I booked from looking at a bed and breakfast website and from looking at pictures of the Inn on the web, but became very nervous about staying at the Inn after reading some of the horrible reviews on here. After staying at the Inn this past weekend, I felt compelled to write this review in response to those earlier reviews. My husband and I stayed at the Inn for 2 wonderful nights. The Inn certainly has an older feel about it, but that's part of the charm about the property. It has retained that original feeling from being a nearly centennial residence, including what may be some of the original fixtures. The Innkeepers were very helpful, providing useful tips and insight into the to-do's and to-see's in the Santa Barbara area, and the breakfasts were DELICIOUS! We stayed in the Captain's Corner room. It features a king size bed and a private entrance that we used quite a few times. The one downside with the Captain's Corner was the size of the sink -- I think it's the original, which adds to the feel of the house, but I'm so used to my oversized sink at home that I felt like I couldn't do much of anything with the tiny sink. Every night, we attended the 5 pm wine & cheese social, and we met some lovely couples. The wine was quite good and the homemade cookies hit the spot. In sum, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Inn and will stay there again when we're in the mood for a quiet, romantic getaway. As long as you like meeting new people, and as long as you don't need to stay in a room that is the duplicate of every other room in the property, you'll like it at the Old Yacht Club Inn.
