I booked from looking at a bed and breakfast website and from looking at pictures of the Inn on the web, but became very nervous about staying at the Inn after reading some of the horrible reviews on here. After staying at the Inn this past weekend, I felt compelled to write this review in response to those earlier reviews. My husband and I stayed at the Inn for 2 wonderful nights. The Inn certainly has an older feel about it, but that's part of the charm about the property. It has retained that original feeling from being a nearly centennial residence, including what may be some of the original fixtures. The Innkeepers were very helpful, providing useful tips and insight into the to-do's and to-see's in the Santa Barbara area, and the breakfasts were DELICIOUS! We stayed in the Captain's Corner room. It features a king size bed and a private entrance that we used quite a few times. The one downside with the Captain's Corner was the size of the sink -- I think it's the original, which adds to the feel of the house, but I'm so used to my oversized sink at home that I felt like I couldn't do much of anything with the tiny sink. Every night, we attended the 5 pm wine & cheese social, and we met some lovely couples. The wine was quite good and the homemade cookies hit the spot. In sum, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Inn and will stay there again when we're in the mood for a quiet, romantic getaway. As long as you like meeting new people, and as long as you don't need to stay in a room that is the duplicate of every other room in the property, you'll like it at the Old Yacht Club Inn.

I took my mother for her birthday. I read the reviews on tripadvisor after I had booked the room. I spent a week upset . Upon arrival I realized my concerns had been ridiculous!! It was a lovely room and main room. The breakfasts were wonderful. We were able to walk to the beach and to restaurants. The decor was perfect for my mother. It was a terrific stay and I plan to return with my husband!

“OK place”

It was a OK place. This was the first bed and breakfast we stayed in. It was OK (quite expensive.. but santa barbara is generally more expensive). the house had a old feeling to it.. which was nice initially but got to us in the end. Also, the room we were staying was freezing and the staff couldnt adjust the heater, so we were stuck with a small floor heater. Hate that to happen on a 160$ per night room, eh? This stay came two days after a great stay at Hilton Garden Inn, salt lake city and just before a very memorable stay in El Morocco Inn, Desert Hot springs.. so this place didnt just stand a chance. I wouldnt have gotten this place, if i looked at the reviews first... :(.

Last minute trip so we booked then read the reviews. We were a bit worried but booked so close that there was no time to cancel without a fee. I'm really glad we didn't. We stayed in the Gallaher room. Private entrance was convenient. We were late arrivals and gaining access was simple. No, the sherry in the room isn't any good, but we had our own wine and really enjoyed the whirlpool tub after our 6 hour drive. The room is a bit reminiscent of visiting grandma. Not the classiest B&B room we've stayed in, but comfortable and private. We hardly noticed the train, heard the wistle once. The next morning we enjoyed a simple but delicious breakfast, great coffee-we took a cup for a walk on the beach, only a block away, before breakfast. The service was pleasant and we have no complaints--especially after I left my fleece in the closet and picked it up two days later, washed! We then headed off for a bike ride. The bikes are old but perfect beach cruisers, such a plus. A great way to see SB. Overall, really enjoyed our stay-not a four star hotel but so much better than some random motel in SB.

Bad, bad, bad. It's old rustic, musty and horrible. Never stay there. The place is overpriced. The breakfast is one of the worst I ever had, we skipped it twice. They could not accomodate my boyfriend who is a vegan but we were still charged. The only good thing is the location. Walking distance to the beach. Stay away!!
