The main problem that I have with this property is that it advertises itself as first class when the reality is that it is not. The rooms are second -rate, the ocean is not visible from the property, the food is so-so, and the noise level caused by the nearby trains screaming in the middle of the night is unreal. If I ever return to Santa Barbara, I will stay at another property. There is no reason to return here.

“A Stunning Treehouse by the Beach!”

When we arrived the innkeeper quickly showed us to our lovely suite. She told us that the wine hour was in the parlor from 5-6pm; however, we needed to leave for our dinner reservations at 5pm. We asked if we could come down earlier. Without hesitation, she graciously offered to serve us whenever we wanted. After we unpacked a few items, we came downstairs and sat in the parlor and enjoyed a glass or two of wine before dinner.

We stayed in the Santa Rosa Suite, which was very spacious. It had a lovely fireplace with an additional sitting room. Additionally, the bathroom offered a spa tub. The room was upstairs and the entire suite was encased in windows, so I almost felt like I was in a beautiful treehouse. I loved it! The furniture was absolutely stunning. There were two couches in the room and a king four poster bed. Even with all this furniture, the suite still felt so spacious. Also in the room was some delicious sherry to greet us and keep us warm through the night! The room was absolutely lovely!

My favorite part of the entire stay was the gourmet breakfast. I have been to many bed and breakfasts, but I have never had a better breakfast! In the parlor with the fire going, every guest was personally served a gourmet breakfast! It was fine dining! My coffee cup was never empty as the innkeepers were very attentive to every guest. The first entree of breakfast that morning was poached pears with currants, and the second entree was banana pecan pancakes with warm maple syrup and a side of raspberry yogurt. They also served Naked orange juice. It was delicious! The breakfast is sure to please even the most discriminating palette!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Yacht Club Inn in Santa Barbara!

“Old Yacht Club Inn-class act, cosy, top location and cultured inn keeper”

Old Yacht Club Inn

This is my favorite b and b and we've stayed in a lot in Santa Barbara. I have had much more expensive b&B suites that impressed me much less. The Innkeeper has a great eye for details and good taste in food. It is more cosy. It was immaculate. I expected less for such a good price. The staff is great. This is going to be my regular SB inn from now on. I love the location, also-some of the others are way inland .

My husband and I wanted to get a way for a long weekend and stayed at the lovely old yacht club. The room was beautiful the food prepared was awesome. You could tell time and thought went into the preparation. The staff was just wonderful and friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. All in all, we had a wonderful time away...thanks you for the great weekend. We’ll be back!!!!

My Fiance and I stayed at the Old Yacht Club this past weekend and it was "OK."

The inn is located on a quiet street near the beach, but you do not have an ocean view. Unless you like to walk a lot, downtown is about 2-3 miles away. It is near the railroad tracks, but I didn't hear any train noise after 10pm. My Fiance did not hear anything either and he's a light sleeper.

On the outside, the property looks well kept. The inside looked old, but it was clean and neat. The innkeeper had cookies out, fresh coffee, tea and water. On the right side is a sitting area for guest to relax, socialize and read the newspaper/magazines. The left side was the dinning area. There is free wireless and I was able to use it in my room. Apparently, the other house might not have access to the connection. The innkeeper was pleasant, but a little strange. Not in a bad way...kinda reminded me a flower child hippie type.

We stayed in the Captain's Corner...the only room on the main floor. I don't recommend this room if you're looking for peace and quiet. If people are socializing in the sitting/dinning area, you hear everything. Sometimes, people are really loud and it sucks...especially if you're trying to take a nap. We didn't like the bed. It was too hard and it seemed like they put two twin beds together to make it a king size bed. The sink area is really small...probably the original. There is no tub in this room and the towels suck. The ones that were there had ripples and it was too rough. Bring your own iron, hairdryer and toiletries. Overall the room was basic, clean and neat...something I would say about a Motel 6. It has a private entrance which is nice if you don't like going through the house.

The breakfast is decent, but my Fiance did not like it. He has stayed at many B&Bs and the food here didn't compare. If you are on a special diet, be sure to ask the innkeeper if they accommodate before booking. Breakfast is served betweened 8:30-9:30am and that didn't work well for me. I'm not a morning person. I can understand not serving a full meal all morning, but put some fruit, granola bars and muffins out for those who drag in the morning.

If you are a wine person, you will be disappointed with the wine hour. They offered Chardonnay and crackers...we didn't see any cheese. There is a Trade Joe's close by and we bought our own stuff.

I think the innkeeper charges too much for what is offered. If you have never stayed at a B&B or if you have high expectations, this is not the place. Would I personally stay here again? No.

Side note: Some weird things were happening in my room during the night. When I stay at a hotel, I sleep with the bathroom light on and the door cracked about 5-6 inches. When I was surfing the net, the door closed. I didn't see it move or hear it shut, but I thought I left the bathroom window opened and the wind caused the door to close. I checked the bathroom and the window was open, so I closed the window and got back on my computer. Maybe 30 mintues later I looked up and the bathroom door was closed. It felt a little creepy, but I went to bed. The next morning my Fiance told me that I forgot to close the bathroom window that night and it was really cold in there. I told him I did close it and the ghost probably opened it just like it kept closing the bathroom door...LOL! The same thing happened the second night and that morning, the lights started flickering. Who knows, it's an old house, but I thought I would share that experience.
