I was in Santa Barbara for a football game and decided to spend the night. It was 1030pm and the manager at the front desk said it was the last room. She charged me 179$. I would no recommend this place to anyone. It is a run down establishment with stained indoor outdoor carpets and the worst part of my stay was the additional critters in our beds. when brought to the attention of the manager she blamed the bugs on the prior occupants and didn't offer me a refund. I had to ask for a refund. Hopefully she is taking care of her critter problem I haven't had a good nights sleep since.

We booked this property only because we could get just one night before other reservations in SB. All other properties were booked or required two nights. I had a feeling we would not be thrilled. The desk person/manager (?) at checkin never looked at us while speaking, the jacuzzi tub was broken (we had not booked that room type anyway), and the bugs under the vanity stayed there as I never opened the cabinet after the first time.
On a positive note, the hot tub outside was nice, the breakfast was ok, bed was just ok, and it was a quiet night. We were just there from 8pm to 9am and then were off to another SB property to meet a group and our Santa Barbara experience there was wonderful!

New husband and I like to travel on the fly without reservations, and most of the time we are pleasantly surprised. The Country Inn fell a bit short of acceptable. The front desk staff was just fine, not particularly good or bad, but efficient.

This property is old and cruddy. The indoor/outdoor carpet in the outdoor areas is badly stained and dirty. The walls are dirty. The room decor is overly flowery, shabby and weird. The edge of the bathtub had a ring stain of coffee or tea.

In a nutshell, try elsewhere in Santa Barbara. We paid $150 for the king bed room, but I would have happily paid another $20 for a clean hotel.

My husband booked one night for us for this Saturday. A few hours later he found out he had to work and we couldnt make it up there. I called the manage a few hours after booking. I was so nice to her and explained our situation. She told me I would have to cancel 72 hours before.....I explained I couldnt because we only reseverved the room about 50 hours before. She told me that was too bad, and would charge me $25 for cancelling. I told her there was nothing written on the sheet we printed out with the confirmation number. I asked for the manager, because she SURELY was NOT.....but she turned out to be. She wasnt even nice. To at least say "Im sorry but those are the rules". She just said too bad. I had my husband call her. Sometimes old ladies prefer talking to men. He called her. He could NOT believe how rude that woman was. Very hateful, spiteful. She said it was not HER problem.
Now I see why all those people wrote about how rude they were. I didnt believe it til I heard HER, the old lady with a very very bad attitude myself.
