We were driving down to San Diego with our 1-year old daughter and wanted a stop on the way to break up the drive. The Days Inn was satisfactory for that purpose, but the entire time I was wishing I had spent more money and found another place to stay. If you're in Santa Barbara for a vacation, this is not the place to go unless you are limited on funds. I am aware that it is a Days Inn so my expectations weren't that high, but I was still disappointed.
THE GOOD
Location is near the beach.
We were allowed to check in early, which was great because we had our baby with us.
No ants in the room.
THE BAD
Is near the seedy part of State Street. You have to drive to go to the nice part unless you feel like walking for 15-20 minutes.
Is right across from a park where a LOT of homeless people are living either in the cars parked along the street or just scattered around.
We couldn't give our baby a bath because the tub didn't work. By the time we realized that, it was almost her bedtime and not worth the trouble of switching rooms. The management didn't seem to care the next morning.
The curtains were broken and we couldn't shut out the light to make the room dark enough.
Tub was not that clean. Had to buy some Clorox at the 7-11 and scrub it down. Ended up not mattering since the tub didn't work (see above).
"Jacuzzi area" is practically in the parking lot so not ideal, unless you want to relax with everyone watching you.
We were right next to the office and the ice machine so there was quite a bit of noise.
Their cancellation policy is 2 days prior to the check-in date or you are charged for 1 night. If it had been to the day of, we would not have stayed there.
