I have been staying at the Coast Village Inn for over 10 years now. It is probably the best bargain in the Santa Barbara area. I love the location and it is a short walk to Butterfly Beach, one of my favorite spots in the world (walk down and watch the fantastic sunsets). The rooms are very nice, clean and quiet, the pool is lovely, and Peabody's Restaurant (nextdoor) is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner (try their Happy Hour Margarita's during the week!), and there are many other restaurants within short walking distance. It is also a good choice for a woman travelling on her own. I always feel very safe there. The only disadvantage I see is that the Inn has become more upscale in recent years and on weekends the prices double.

We spent 6 nights at the Coast Village Inn in Monecito. The room was small but adequate and very clean. The location was absolutely wonderful. It was a 3 mile drive to downtown Santa Barbara and close to the roads to get on the highways. Peabody's Cafe is adjacent to the property and served a very nice continental breakfast. They were extremely flexible with our food needs as well.The outside patios were heated and there's a fireplace inside. The servers were all very sweet and eager to please. The folks in the office(which is open 24 hours) were very helpful with suggestions and directions.The rooms were $67 for week nights and $129 on the weekend.It was too chilly for us to use the pool but it looked lovely. Also, someone had written about train noise. We did not experience that at all. There were a few trains but mostly during the day. There is a great dry cleaner across the street. I thought my beige pants were doomed but they got out every stain. Starbucks is about half mile down the road. There are wonderful restaurants up and down the street. The Montecito Inn is a delightful place for lunch or dinner and the prices are a very good value.
