This property meets my expectations for an Embassy Suites hotel: good-size room (two-room suite), reasonable decor and ambiance, decent free breakfast, easy parking, good price. This high-rise structure isn't as visually appealing as the atrium style properties, but it's still nice.

As a woman travelling alone, I found it safe and comfortable. As a business person, I found it to be a convenient location and the early morning breakfast buffet (available at 6:00 a.m.) is really appreciated.

The hotel has wireless access, but the public internet access stations have a somewhat hefty fee associated with them. Other hotels provide free internet access in the lobby or business center -- that's a very convenient feature.

Location, price, and features are a good combo -- I will stay here again when I am in the area.

Embassy Suites in Santa Clara is an adequate hotels for anyone who is travelling on business. The best thing is the evening reception that lasts for a couple of hours. Here you can get complilmentary drinks (beer, wine, mixed well) and a snack (popcorn and nachos). Breakfast is also decent with an omelet chef and all the basics one could expect for breakfast.

The rooms are pretty sizeable and appointed well enough. I'm not sure what room style I reserved but it had a small living area and a seperate room with a queen size bed. There was also a microwave, sink, and mini fridge. The decor is slightly dated so don't expect luxury but it is also not a dump. Everything seemed clean and the bathroom was nice with lots of marble/travertine which kicks the place up a notch in my book.

Other amenities include an indoor pool which has a strong chlorine atmosphere (this is always the case with indoor pools regretably). I was slightly dissapointed that they didn't have complimentary internet access...you have to pay some ridiculous amount per day for it. The lobby is well sized with a bar and restaurant.

Location is good, depending on what you are in town for and what you like to do. There are several hi-tech companies close by including Yahoo! and Applied Materials. If you are an AMAT employee or customer you will be especially happy about the location of this hotel as it is within walking distance of many AMAT facilities. There is also an amusment park right down the street and numerous shopping venues. The only negative aspect is it's distance from San Jose (about 15 mins). In San Jose you will find more night life and better restaurants.

If you need to stay in this particular area, especially for business, the Embassy Suites comes highly recommended. Otherwise I would look closer to downtown San Jose for a more lively scene.

We stayed at Embassy Suites over a long weekend when we were visiting family. Our kids at the time were 3.5 years and 1 year. The front desk was fabulous. I really appreciated the Granny Smith apples at the desk and the water bottle (though it was $3 I later learned) waiting in the room. They didn't have our crib waiting for us but brought it up within minutes of asking for it.

I noticed a room getting a thorough scrubdown and touch up paint. Looks like maintenance is important to this hotel.

The only weird things about the room were the bag over the smoke detector. They said a previous guest must have been smoking. Fortunately, it didn't smell at all. And the remote for one of the TVs was broken. We just used the other one.

My husband and older daughter used the pool a lot and had a good time.

The only bad part of our stay was the food. It was horrible. It was school cafeteria quality at best. Yes, I like very fresh food and I like meat without all sorts of additives and chemicals. I recognize that many people don't care and like it fine. But if you have any kind of palette you won't be impressed. My baby, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of the sausage. And the coffee was surprisingly good, given it was instant and from a machine.

Given that a chunk of the cost of the room was actually for the breakfast I'd have to think hard before we'd stay here again. Yes, the buffet was really convenient, especially with kids, but I would dread that breakfast if I had to eat it again. But given that the staff was so great, I may just do it again and just plan to eat hard boiled eggs and fruit, like I eventually did this last time.

This is my first choice when traveling to Santa Clara. Convenient, clean, polite friendly staff. Room service is prompt, food is usually good (not always consistent). Rooms are quiet on the even side, not so quiet on the odd half of the building (overlooks a freeway). Parking is well lit, I feel safe as a woman traveling alone.
