This is my first choice when traveling to Santa Clara. Convenient, clean, polite friendly staff. Room service is prompt, food is usually good (not always consistent). Rooms are quiet on the even side, not so quiet on the odd half of the building (overlooks a freeway). Parking is well lit, I feel safe as a woman traveling alone.

Embassy Suites Hotel Santa Clara is near the Great America Park. It is not the atrium style, but a high rise interior corridor smaller than average room size. While most Embassy Suites have the larger in living room "kitchen/bar counter area, this has a small sink with fridge tucked in a corner. The halls were tight, bathroom as well, kept hitting side of arm on the door handles! Bathroom small. Sink wouldn't drain, but that was the only maintenance problem, and they offered us a free movie on pay per view when I called to report it to be fixed after our checkout, and to notify that the pool smelled very strongly, of something....bad.
The pool is a smaller one. If you have children, the shallow end is very small. Like six feet across, and only ten feet length, like an L shape including steps, leading to the lap style lanes, which my child could not go. There is a pool at the ES in Milipitas, which is outside, and we would probably rather try that if there is a next time. The hotel staff was GREAT, all nice, and the manager at night, Robert, was highly customer service oriented. The reception at night included, chips and salsa, cheese (cold, needed to be heated but machine wasn't turned on for nachos), popcorn, and a chex mix. Breakfast potatoes were the worst ever, and I love potatoes, but ate one, and had to say no more, the deep fried sausages and bacon, are also always a disappointment, who deep fries, these things? Ugh...I had a made to order omelette, only thing fresh, and fine. My son's over easy eggs were perfect, but coffee tasted like the stuff you would make in the room, so that was not to good. I do love ES though, even though there are always some that are better than others, since we do like the larger suite, and the amenities. I paid 119. with tax 135. Oh, Bed's...We had a King room, most are there, and it was very cheap, you can tell a good bed, when you come home after this one, you know the type, you sit on it, and sink, too soft, just nothing to it! I have heard Marriott's beds are better....Staying at a Residence Inn tomorrow, so will be able to compare!

Overall, if I had to stay here again for location trip, I would.
It's not the best I have been at, but certainly not the worst.
The staff is what makes this place. The overall condition of the lobby, restaurant, elevators, is very nice, clean, just missing some fine tuning on food, and room comfort I guess when compared with other ES.

I was told upon checkin that my reservation specifically requested a smoking room, which is not true. My travel agent is AMEX, and my profile has included nonsmoking king for at least 10 years. The clerk seemed to want me to believe that my travel agent had made this mistake, but I checked my itinerary and it clearly stated nonsmoking. I held my ground and got a nonsmoking room, even though they were sold out of those, likely because I'm a HH Diamond.

The elevators are not air conditioned, which might be OK when there isn't a heat wave going on. The wi-fi in the rooms didn't work when I checked in, but did the next day.

The burger I ordered from room service was terrible. It was supposed to be broiled, but had char-grilled marks on it. It was dry, and tasteless. No pickles, or onions on the side, either, and no ice-water that I asked for.

This is a great hotel for a business trip, the rooms are ample and clean.
The breakfast is included and is really good, one of the best I have eaten in this business hotel class. They have a chef doing omeletes and toasting your bread at preference.
Excellent distance to San Jose airport and all Silicon Valley.
Highly recommended!

We were very happy with hotel.
I stay at hilton properties regularily and this is one of the nicest.
The only drawback is its location in a very industrial (commercial) area. So if you are without wheels going places takes a long taxi ride.
