Finding a clean hotel room that is in a decent neighborhood for around $100 a night in west Los Angeles is very difficult. I was delighted to find the Travelodge Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica. My 12-year old and I just spent 4 nights there on our 'spring break roadtrip' and had a marvelous experience.

We were given a room with 2 double beds, small kitchen with microwave and refrigerator, table and chairs. The room was quite large, and very clean, with very comfortable mattresses, a larger bathroom and plenty of room in the kitchen area for our cooler and extras.

I recommend you ask for a room in building 3 or 4, where the exterior doors all face onto a secure, very lovely courtyard with lawn furniture and 2 large barbecues. There is plenty of off-street parking, and the surrounding neighborhood and street businesses are very nice. Best of all, it is next door to a Trader Joe's!!

The room was very quiet and we were surprised to hear little or no street noise. While we were there, they were installing new flat-screen TV's in each room. Yeah!

I have definitely found our place to stay in west LA. I recommend this hotel highly.

Nice rooms, free wifi, best continental breakfast I've seen in a while (apples, cereal, eggs, pastry, juice, coffee, milk), free parking. We were in a room next to street - road noise is notable. I wore ear plugs. Location is accessible.

I think this place was ok but a little overpriced for what it is (i paid 116$ for the night). Rooms are small and smelled like smoke (we asked for non-smoking) but with everything you need (no fridge) and you have a free parking and toasts with juice and coffee for breakfast included in the price. Sound proof is inexistent so if you have a light sleep (as my self) i wouldn't recommended you to stay here. You will be woken up several times during the night for sure. I would not stay in this hotel again, i think that for the same price you can find a better place, even in Santa Monica.

My apartment was being tented for termites, so my landlord had to put me and my roommate up for 2 nights in a nearby hotel. We needed a pet-friendly place, as I have a small labrador retriever. Thanks to TripAdvisor's reviews, I was able to point him in the direction of the Travelodge Pico. To book a pet room, I had to call the hotel directly, and they even gave me a AAA discount when I showed up in person.

As for the room, it was just what I expected, based on the reviews here: clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and bright, and the shower had great water pressure.

The middle parking lot was a bit tight, but I had no problem finding a spot right in front of my room both nights. Trader Joe's is literally right next door (on the same side of the street), so I was able to get some dinner and snack items to put in the fridge. The neighborhoods just south and west of the hotel provided great streets for walking my dog.

I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a clean, serviceable hotel that is in a safe neighborhood and has easy access to the 10 and 405 freeways.
