I stayed at the Chamberlain Hotel for one night as the usual hotels I stay at in the West Hollywood area were all booked. The price was about $300/night.

The rooms are very spacious but feel a bit like apartments - it looks like the hotel used to be an apartment or condo building. The pool area was fantastic - great views of the city and very contemporary. The location is also great - just a few blocks walking distance from Sunset Blvd.

My biggest problem was the limited room service menu - not much to choose from - especially later in the evening.

“Fair hotel, but pricey”

I was disappointed by the hotel, primarily since the website did not fairly represent it (and I hadn't found TripAdvisor yet!). It was clean, and the room a good decent size, but they had to upgrade us and charge us for this room since we had our son with us.

The bathroom was small and somewhat worn. They are pet-friendly, which is important to us. However, they inadvertently did not charge us a cleaning fee for our dog (even though we "legally" signed him in).

The pool was very nice, but not very kid-friendly. The restaraunt did
not have a kids menu, nor any accomodations for kids (how about $18 for a plate of plain pasta?????).

All in all a decent place, but not worth the price and does not look like the website for the most part.

Decided for the Chamberlain based on the good reviews on tripadvisor, and have not been dissapointed.
Excellent free upgrade, perfect rooftop-swimmingpool-lounge area, nice bistro, outstanding service by concierge Ted.
Hotel in walking distance to bar and restaurants, but off the noise.
Bathroom a little small and some silicon joints and scratches in the sink and the noisy Air Conditioning dampened a little bit the otherwise really great hotel experience.

Almost perfect location in West Hollywood.

“Great Location and Hotel”

Chamberlain West Hollywood

21 Jun 2007

My friends and I stayed at the Chamberlain for 4 nights. The hotel is located on a quiet side street, but walking distance from great restaurants and bars in West Hollywood. The room size was excellent for 3 adults and the bed and linens were the most comfortable I've found at a hotel. Terrific food at the bar/restaurant on the main level, great views and relaxing atmosphere at the roof pool, and convenient onsite parking for a daily fee. All around terrific experience for the price.

“Exceeded my expectations”

I'd read a lot of mixed reviews for this hotel, so I quite frankly didn't know what to expect. I chose the hotel because of location, price, size and the decor I saw on their website.

I'll start at the beginning. The hotel is located in a quiet nook of a neighborhood, which is still in the heart of it all--Sunset Blvd is walking distance, La Cienega is a stone's throw away and so is Beverly Hills, etc. Driving down the street on which the hotel sits, I was pleasantly surprised to find cute homes, lots of trees and a lovely circular flower bed at the circular intersection (hard to describe, but a truly lovely touch to the neighborhood.)

Pulling into the parking garage, I was immediately greeted by an attendant, who had a list of guests checking in. The car drop-off was quick and efficient. I was given a one-time ticket for the week. Check in was a breeze; the front desk staff was pleasant; I was always addressed by name, etc.

My room turned out to be amazing. At check-in I politely requested something with a view perhaps, and my request was met. My room faced the pretty street, Westmount, was on the 3rd floor and was pleasantly shielded by a large tree. The size of the room was enormous--around 500 sq ft. I guess it was their king studio room. It was $215 a night--which is not cheap--however, for the square footage and location I think it was a great deal. The room was very nicely appointed. There was a separated sleeping area; the sitting area had a sofa and chair, both super-comfortable. There was a large dresser/console with the flat-screen TV on top. There was an office area with a huge desk and comfortable chair. Not to mention the gas fireplace and balcony. If it sounds like I'm raving about this hotel--I really did love it. I don't know if I just got a good room, but I was just very pleased. The bed was wonderful; I slept very well. There was a separate dressing area next to the bathroom.

Everything just felt spacious and well-kept. I stayed there for 5 nights and felt totally comfortable at all times. In fact, I was sad to leave. The staff were super-nice. Getting your car out was easy. I had two meetings each day I was there, and I was constantly pulling in and out of the garage. I never had to wait for my car. This is one major advantage to staying in a smaller hotel.

There's also a kick-ass roof-top pool. I didn't swim in it, but I did hang out in this huge cabana with cushy seats, looking out at the gorgeous LA view. A total pleasure after a stressful day.

I did experience a couple of quirks with the internet connection. It wasn't a big deal, but they took off my charges for the entire week, which I thought was super-nice of them. I really felt like they truly accommodated the guests. I personally liked the decor. It's tasteful and understated (the guy who decorated the hotel is the protege of designer Kelly Whistler--who is a major interior design figure.)

I would definitely stay here again. I thought it was a great deal. Nice toiletries too (Molton Brown.) I would recommend it to anybody. Book a king studio, ask for a room facing Westmount and a higher floor, and you should be all set.
