Stayed here for a movie junket, so thankfully I didn't have to pay for my room. The room reminded me of my grandparents old house (orange sink, weird blue walls). Overall, it was just plain weird. I attempted ordering room service 5 times but was HUNG UP ON multiple times. Got so frustrated that I actually walked down to the front desk where I was actually asked to WRITE DOWN my order with a pen and paper and track down a waiter from the restaurant. If you want any form of service, don't go here. The only saving grace was the fact that the bed was relatively comfortable. Terrible place - that's all you need to know.

Disgusting treatment, invented story to get my daughter to get out as "Grammy's" on, wanted their room. Overcharged rate, rude ignorant staff, locked her door whilst waiting for them to pack.
It was her birthday and it was ruined.
Please - message to UK/European music/film industry please boycott this hotel. Hotel is pretentious, dirty, dissappointing to say the least!!!
Stayed several times at other Sunset Boulevard hotels this is definately the worst.
We had pre- booked room rate and they still overcharged, will be seeking compensation. let you know how it goes for future travellers to avoid.

Let me preface this by saying I enjoy nice hotels but can also appreciate a bare bones economy motor inn.

A colleague and I decided to stay at the Standard on a business trip out to LA. BIG mistake. The Standard works so hard to be hip that it lacks the basic comforts of a Marriott. The rooms have no air conditioning only a dial on the wall that says “blow” and one directions says “hard” while the other says “harder.” This dial has about as much actually use as a “door close” button in an elevator. When I called the desk they suggested that I open the sliding glass door (or said they might be able to bring up a fan). I opted to open the door for some fresh air, only problem is that if your room is facing the pool you will be forced to listen to the all of the noise from the music and people who congregate in the pool area until 3am or so.

The bed is extremely uncomfortable and is covered in what seemed to be a wool blanket. Wool…in California?

The only seating in the room other than the bed was a silver bean bag which probably would have lit up like a Christmas Tree under a black light if you know what I mean and a plastic desk chair that resembled something out of an elementary school.

The Standard tries very hard to be sheek but ultimately fails. You money would be much better spent elsewhere.

It was fun while it lasted. I've stayed here a few times, but I've had it with the noise and the crappy rooms. There are no amenities, no service, and the rooms are dark and getting dingy. I suppose that's why it's so much cheaper than everything else on the Strip. If you don't mind paying for a Motel 6 room for the hip factor, then this hotel is for you.
