The cons outweigh the pros so here goes....PROS: (1) nice pool (2) huge HD TV (3) the hotel is walking distance to the House of Blues & less than a 5 minute drive to the Laugh Factory (among many other places) so it's centrally located to the hot spots (4) nicely decorated lobby (5) the bed was VERY comfy (6) there are shades in the room that block out the sun
CONS: (1) the staff is not knowledgeable about their own hotel because I called before checking in to ask if I have to use valet or could I self-park & was told I can self park. Only to get there to find out that I had to use valet to park on the hotel premises and pay $35 a night & to self-park meant I would have to find parking on the street which also costs money...by trying to find alternative parking, I ended up getting a $53 parking ticket! (2) I also asked (when I called before I arrived) if the hotel charges for incidentals (i.e. for movies, phone calls, etc.) in advance & I was told no but what they neglected to mention is that they "authorize" $50 in advance. (3) the toilet seat had chips on the porcelain like the toilet hasn't been replaced in years (4) concierge did not help me with my bags at all when I checked in or out (5) when I checked in, the man checking me in basically gave me attitude when I tried to explain that I had been given wrong information about parking & incidentals charge (6) there is a refrigerator in the room but no microwave (7) there is a DVD player in the room but it wasn't hooked up and I couldn't get to it to hook it up myself because the cover to the drawer that the DVD player was in was stuck so it would have taken much maneuvering to get it out & I didn't want to risk breaking it so I didn't get to watch the dvd's that I brought me. (8) there is no breakfast offered and no room service so don't expect any food (9) there's only one ice machine and it was on a different floor than the floor I was on (which I've never had happen before at a hotel) (10) I found this hotel through kayak.com and what first appealed to me is that this hotel has a lounge/restaurant, only to find out that that the lounge/restaurant was "temporarily closed"
I rented this room because I am planning on moving to Hollywood in a few months and wanted to check out the area. But the unhelpful staff & the horrid parking situation assured me that I won't be visiting this hotel again and won't be recommending this hotel to anyone. I paid $544 for two nights & for everything that it lacks, I sure felt like I overpaid. It is almost like this hotel prides itself for being centrally located so they didn't feel the need to provide top notch service. So if you're planning on coming to Hollywood, make sure you stay somewhere where parking is included!
