I'm currently a student at the University of Colorado. They have a great variety of classes and I've liked all of my professors. If you are taking classes, here's a tip: google "university of colorado" and "fcq" for a list of student surveys, evaluating every course and professor. It will definitely help you to choose the best classes. The university will not tell you about this.
Another nice aspect of the university is the atmosphere. It is a very bike-friendly campus, with free bike tune-ups for students and automatic bike rentals for very cheap. I also like the fountains. I bring my kids to play in them sometimes.
The cons: the library is truly dismal. It's dark, disorganized, and smells like an old basement. Yuck! Also, the restaurants at the UMC tend to close very early. It's difficult to locate computer labs (I have yet to find an accurate list online) and sometimes they are used as classrooms. Compared to other universities, there are few places for students to study on campus. Finally, parking is pretty bad, especially considering how much you have to pay for a pass. I've also had pretty bad experiences with advising.
In summary, great classes and professors, nice campus... not great on practical conveniences or supportive services.
