My family and I stayed at this hotel for our son's wedding in the area. The hotel is situated in a area that is being developed for businesses, eateries, shopping, living; however, there isn't much there, expect empty buildings, at this time. The neighborhood is not very pretty, as there is hardly any landscaping. Aloft is very plain from the outside. Inside is different: colorful, open and airy. Some may like it and others won't. The lobby desk is small and circular. There is a bar on one side of the lobby and a pay-as-you-go snack room on the other, a pool table and a couple of sunken areas with seating, and little round tables. There are 2 public computers with a printer. The seating areas made a great place to gather with family. There was plenty of room to sit and chat, and because you're "sunken", it feels more private. The pool is a very small rectangle, not very inviting. The work out room looked pretty good with machines and weights. Their was not an ice machine anywhere, but you can get ice, for free, in the snack room. In the snack room, they had fruit and croissant sandwiches, chips, cookies, burritos, soda, water, etc., and you pick out want you want and pay for it at the desk. You can charge it your room or pay then. They do not have a free continental or any type of breakfast. There are plenty of places to eat north of the hotel, across Hwy 36. They're not difficult to get to, you just have to have proper directions. The luggage carts they have are small and there is no place to hang garments. The rooms are nice, but different, in that the door opens into the bathroom area. If you are standing naked, brushing your teeth and someone opens the door, whoever is in the hallway will see you. The shower was all glass, no bath tub, but the shower head was a "rain" nozzle and the water pressure was nice. There is an in-room safe, hair dryer, frig, coffee, tea, bottled water, but no microwave. (maybe you can ask for one), but there is a microwave in the snack room. Past the bathroom area, is the bedroom. I liked the nice soft bed, but my husband didn't. There were 2 desk tops on each side of the room with a long vinyl backless couch in between. It made a great place to put our stuff and luggage so they didn't have to go on the floor. The closet is in the bathroom and I thought it offered a lot of space. Outside the back of the hotel is plenty of parking and a fireplace and seating for lounging, but I noticed this is where the smokers hung out. The staff was very nice and helpful. HOWEVER, although my husband and I had a great experience, (aside from not liking the bathroom set up), my parents did not. Their room never got cleaned the 2 days we were there. They told the front desk, after returning to a dirty room the first day, and someone sent up some towels and a box of kleenix, never offered to pick up the dirty laundry or make the bed, which my mom did herself. They were not apologized to or comped in any way. Not sure what happened to the customer service there.
