We stayed in the Conservatory. It's a lovely, sunny room with a bay window. The clerestory is uncovered ~ great if you're a morning person. The room is right off the salon & kitchen area, which, unfortunately means you can hear people in the salon and kitchen area. It's not really a problem and didn't interfere with sleep. It is, however, a . . . shall I say, mood inhibitor. I would stay in this room if I were solo, but not for a romantic trip. Pick another room. The bed was great, I slept beautifully until sunrise. Our travelling companions were in Mason and also had a fantastic bed.
Our room was clean and cozy. We even got wi-fi in the room, although Melissa didn't think we'd be able to and recommended the salon.
Breakfast was quite good by hotel standards, but nothing special by B&B standards. Afternoon tea was another story. Hot & iced teas, labelled, so you can buy them when you get home and assorted nummies. Try the shortbread ~ it more than makes up for breakfast. Late evening they set out Sleeptime tea and fresh baked cookies. Wow.
The whole family is so nice. Melissa wants everything to be perfect for you. Jim is a Denver treasure. He knows a tremendous amount of local history and can recommend lots of things to do based on your interests and tell you all about it. They are happy to give dinner recommendations ~ all the suggestions that we tried we wonderful.
The Castle is in a wonderful central location, wear comfy shoes and you can easily walk to all sorts of great places to see and eat. You'll need to walk because there are so many great nearby eateries and you'll want to burn those extra calories. There is a massage school across the street, so if you ache from all your activity you can get a good, inexpensive massage.
