“Hated this hotel”

I stayed at this hotel because I was working nearby and it was the hotel booked by my BOSS. I stayed here for three weeks. The first week, I had the privacy sign on my door because I did not need housekeeping for the first few days. They came in my room anyway. Not too happy because they threw away some stuff that I needed. Ok so I get over that. The third week I'm with the hotel, they call my Boss, the guy paying for my room, and tell him that I am smoking in my room and they are charging him $250. I was not smoking in my room. I had the housekeeping manager come in and smell my room and she said I was absolutely not smoking in the room and was not sure how that accusation got to my boss. She said it was probably because my room was right next to the exit where there is an ashtray. Really?! You're going to risk my job because of the location of my room. Thanks

I've stayed at a Courtyard Marriott, but none with the interior of a 1970's hotel. This hotel is tucked away for none to see, with good reason. The lobby and staff were good, but the rooms were incredibly outdated. It would almost be a compliment to bomb the entirety of its hotel rooms and start from scratch. The road to get to the hotel seemed like the 1st paved road in Denver, and has the bruised and black eyes to prove it. As mentioned previously, the lobby is clean, the hotel rooms are ghetto. The hotel has a $9 breakfast which was actually worse than the free, awesome breakfast I had at a Hampton Inn a few months back. If you are looking to have a "what the crap! this is a Marriott hotel?!" experience...then be my guest and stay here. But I would suggest you go to the Embassy Suites or Hampton Inn down the street closer to food/entertainment.

We stayed at this hotel when we were traveling from Breckenridge to home and our flight was very early in the morning so we decided to spend the afternoon in Denver and then sleep there and get up early and just head to the airport rather than try and drive from Breck to Denver at 1:00am!

We got a room with two doubles and also requested a crib for our 2 year old. When we got there we wanted to hurry to the zoo or the children's museum because we didn't have much time left in the day and wanted to do something our last day in town. The staff was very helpful and had directions to the local attractions and had them printed on a little sheet that they gave us, that only took just a few moments and then we ran up to our room just to drop a few things off quickly, it was very clean and they had the pack and play (crib) set up and a clean sheet on it for my son (A+) for that!! When we got back from our great trip at the zoo and dinner we did notice that the highspeed internet cable was broken and tried to get a replacement but it was late in the evening so we didn't really push it when we didn't hear from anyone, I found there was a wireless signal available anyway...not sure why they have hardwired access though??? Also another reviewer said they didn't have plugs...they were all over in our room, but they are in the lamps or on the desk or on the lamp by the nightstand etc, not on the usual wall like at homes, I think this is normal with hotels now a days though.

Anyway, the hotel was decent from what we experienced on our very short stay. It was a great place to lay our heads for a bit. I would have gladly stayed longer, and I am sure the other parts of the hotel were decent as well.

If you are looking for something inexpensive but nice, this is a good choice.

“Nice hotel for the price”

Courtyard Denver Stapleton

31 Mar 2008

We took a quick trip to Denver last week and picked this hotel because they were having a 2nd night free promotion so we paid $99 for 2 nights. For that price, it was not a bad hotel. Room was pretty clean, the bathroom was a little outdated though. Staff was helpful when we needed a crib and a fridge brought to our room. It was right by the freeway, so it can get a little noisy if you're on that side of the hotel.

Overall, I had a fairly good experience here, but I think it could have been improved with a better choice of a room (more below).

The first impression of the hotel was positive; it has very attractive landscaping and the lobby is clean and bright. The person at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The room was something of a disappointment, however. The previous evening I had stayed at a new Courtyard by Marriot in Casper, Wyoming, and this one simply didn't measure up to the one in Casper. This hotel is obviously a renovation of a hotel from the 1970's era, so the rooms are slightly small and the bathrooms are not up to the standards of newly-built hotels. Having said that, however, there was nothing wrong with the room; it was clean, well-decorated and comfortable.

I did have one or two complaints, however. I wanted to do some ironing, and could not find any place to plug the iron in. Finally I had to move the couch to plug the iron in - all of the plug-ins are blocked by furniture or the (large) television. In addition, the room was quite dark and a bit noisy. The noise was a function of the hotel's location, since the west side faces busy Quebec Street . If you can, ask for a room facing either into the courtyard or facing east; they should be much quieter. In addition, if I were to stay here again I would ask for a room on the second or third floor, since those rooms should be brighter. Also, the first floor rooms have patio doors to the outside, and I didn't feel entirely comfortable with that despite the good security bars on the doors. Rooms on the second or third floor wouldn't have that problem.

The hot buffet breakfast (extra cost) was very good and extensive, with the normal scrambled eggs and potatoes, cereal, bread and bagels for toast, danishes and coffee. In addition, this one had a good selection of cut-up fresh fruit, yogurt and juices. If you are hungry, it's well worth the money, in my opinion.

Overall, I would certainly stay here again, but only if I could get a courtyard room or a room facing east.
