We again the booked the Inn at Riverwalk for our annual ski vacation to the Vail/Beavercreek Resorts this year in early February. Last year we felt that the hot, order off the menu breakfast which was included helped make the Inn at Riverwalk a good deal when compared to other lodging close the the ski resorts.

This year we found the hot breakfast gone, and in agreement with previous reviews, nothing special (or even desirable) included with the breakfast. In addition, the hotel clerk looked at us like we were from outer space when we inquired about an early check-in. Hot water pressure in our room was non-existent.

The Riverwalk Inn does offer affordable lodging for a ski vacation in the Beaver Creek area, and is okay if you don't much time in the room. Just find breakfast somewhere else.

If you are planning to stay here with kids, just a bit of a caveat. Kids get hungry and you won't want to go far to feed them everyday. The hotel advertises a breakfast bar/buffet in the restaurant downstairs. Yes, they have a breakfast bar but it is the worst excuse for one I have ever seen. Juice, coffee, cereal, watered down milk, and poppy mini muffins. Whoa! Take it easy, don't want to stuff yourself there. So if you plan to feed hungry kids in the morning, you are better off driving to Avon and hitting Denny's or McD's. Then there is the pool..what can I say. You must cross the neck-breaking, ice covered parking lot in the back to get to it and THEY SAY it is 80 degrees. You are better off not telling the kids there is a pool, you won't want to risk pneumonia to use it. Other than those minor complaints, it is a nice, clean, inexpensive place to stay in an otherwise very expensive area. It is very convenient to things like BC ski area and there is a super market in the complex of the hotel.

Don't bother with the Deluxe room, the only difference between it an the standard room is a pillow-top matress, an ironing board, and supposedly movie channels. Unfortunately, once you get there you will find out that they don't actually have any movie channels. All rooms, other than the condos, face a busy parking lot. Covered parking is ONLY available for the condos. The continental breakfest contains the following: coffee, fruit (spotted bananas), cereal, bagels, and some mini-muffins; not much when compared to most hotels in the vail-beaver creek area. The rooms are clean. Don't expect anything special.

This was a clean, comfortable place to stay -- no frills. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good and the A/C worked well. A little updating would go a long way though. I was very disappointed to find no iron or ironing board -- and was temporarily unable to get one as the front desk had distributed all that they had. The complimentary breakfast was fantastically mediocre (must be a seasonal thing... another reviewer raved about the selection). Black bananas are not good. Fortunately, the location is excellent with many restaurants, shops and a movie theater within walking distance.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Riverwalk for five days last week and were very pleased for the most part. The free hot breakfast everyday was outstanding and just what we needed before hitting the slopes (it sure beat the wimpy continental breakfasts most places give you). Service at the front desk and in the attached restaurant was friendly and efficient.

The deluxe room was great with a beautiful view of the mountains, river and pool area. We especially liked the substantial down comforters and extra pillows on each bed. There were a few problems with housekeeping. Although the maids left the room clean and fresh, our door was left open one day which we found upon our return and promptly notified the front desk. Also, we had to call and ask for the free coffee set up in our room each evening.

Comparing the price to surrounding lodging, the Inn at Riverwalk is an excellent value for your ski or summer vacation. We would definitely return.
