Researching a spot that we could rest our heads between Denver Intl Airport and Rocky Mountain National Park we decided to try the Hampton Inn Longmont. The hotel is an easy drive between both locations and offers easy access to both.
Although located on busy US 287 the hotel itself offers a tranquil environment in a pleasant atmosphere.
Our front desk agent was extremely friendly and professional and alluded the charm of a small town atmosphere. She was extremely helpful in offering us assistance in whatever our needs and went above and beyond the services of an “average” front desk associate.
Our room was a comfortable Hampton Inn style room which we were a bit concerned about due to its view of US 287. Happily we discovered the window had double glass which made any roadside noise completely nonexistent.
We also were a bit concerned to walk into a room where the Air/Heat unit had been set to “heat” (on a day where outside temps had been in the upper 80’s). Certainly this was not any fault of the hotels but we had wished that the window fan unit (which the hotel uses) had been able to cool the room much faster. As it was it took several hours, with the fan set to 60 (its lowest level) to reach a comfortable temperature level.
The other oddity to this hotel is that there is no backup generator in place – which we discovered when the power went out for about an hour on the morning of our departure. As such we found ourselves in a hotel with no electricity (a first in my 50+ years of travel) during this outage. This led one to ponder what might happen if one had quite a bit of luggage to get down the staircase in such a situation. It should be noted that the hotel only has three levels so this may not be an issue. Again we do not fault the hotel for the power issue – but we did find it odd that there was no backup generator in place to keep the facility running.
The breakfast room was spacious for Hampton Inn standards and offered a good selection of hot and cold items – including a waffle maker for those who may wish to be indulgent.
There is a small exercise room with cardio equipment and exercise balls and a nice sized indoor pool with hot tub.
Overall this was a comfortable stay, with very friendly staff and is a property we would return to.
