My husband and I went to Shelly's for our honeymoon. We had been looking to stay in CA but the cost went up far too quickly so we decided to look within our own state and we were very pleased to find Shelly's Cottages. We booked it immediately - we stayed in Cottonwood. We loved it so much that we extended our stay at the last minute, and since Cottonwood was already taken for the next night we moved to Aspen, which has the gazebo over the hot tub, so we were happy to move anyway. The pictures were true to life, and we were really wowed by how snug and attractive everything was - the decor was appropriate (moose on the wall in Aspen, deer in Cottonwood [pictures, not creepy heads!!]) the bed and the couch were both amazing and comfy, I loved that the tv had a DVD player since most hotels don't, and the kitchenette was adorable and stocked with almost everything you need to cook (Aspen didn't have the cooking utensils that Cottonwood did, I hope no one stole them). The river nearby was blissful to listen to, and the hot tub was awesome. They were fairly new with digital controls that easily raised or lowered the temp, turned on a light or turned on the jets which were awesome. Aspen had the gazebo, but the walk to the hot tub was less private than Cottonwoods, and Cottonwood's had the superior cover and higher fences all around for absolute privacy. (there was one little crack where the roof met the fence, but practically no one is out walking around) Some of the outside lights were burnt out, but the owners do cleaning and maintenance during the day so it's probably as a result of no one telling them about it. The room was very clean - someone in 2006 said the ceiling had staining, but it looked like the color or the staining of the wood to me, nothing to be disturbed about, and the window wells seemed fine. The shower was tiny, but it is understandable due to the space of the cabin. There was no door to the shower, just a curtain, so my hubby drenched the floor on his first go in the shower, but simply adjustments kept the floor dry. I loved the tiling in the kitchenette and the bathroom, just beautiful. We cooked most of the time to save money, and used the grill. The charcoal that was provided for three bucks was fail (possibly due to the unseasonably cold and humid week we had) but we went into town and got some better charcoal that worked like a charm. All of this to say - we loved Shelly's and we will hopefully return! We were sad to go home!
