The Cornella family has a beautiful home, and they welcome you into it as family. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable, and Donna makes the most AMAZING breakfasts. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay with a gorgeous view, loveable hosts and a central location (with a short drive to Aspen, Leadville, or Salida) this is the place for you. I'm definitely returning on my next trip to Colorado.

“Gorgeous Hideaway!”

Ores and Mine Bed & Breakfast

We have stayed in many B&B's, and most hosts are very nice, but John and Donna are our favorites. From the moment Donna met us at the door, embracing us and saying "Come in, family!", we knew this was someplace special. What a wonderful couple! Even if you don't go to B&B's to meet extraordinary hosts, you will be won over here! They go out of their way to make sure your stay is great, from discussing local history with you, to loaning you things you may have forgotten to pack, to advising you about hiking and sight seeing. Donna's full breakfasts are gargantuan, filling you for most of the day! Our 12 year old daughter couldn't get enough of the "melt-in-your-mouth" muffins! And if you ever tire of talking to John and Donna, there is a stupendous lake/mountain view to remind you of why you actually thought you came! It just reminded us of Zell am See, Austria. You can enjoy it from the hot tub. A huge Great room provides reasons to just stay put and steal glances out at the view -- pool table, ping-pong, shuffleboard, slot machine, juke box, and other games. And all over the rustic Inn are collections of Donna's. Some focus on nostalgia, and others educate you about local history. We would be remiss to not mention all the handiwork John has done to tie in the "Ores and Mine" theme at the Inn. The rooms are all detailed, and there is a replica of a mine neatly tucking itself under the house. A stay here can be either a secluded retreat (almost soundless!), a mountain hiking expedition, a sight-seeing venture to Leadville or Aspen, or a rafting trip. What ever you go for, you will love it. With a review like this, you might think we're relatives. We're not, but we felt like family! What a Blessed place. Thank you, John and Donna! We have just returned from our vacation in Colorado and Wyoming. There were 2 more couples from Philadelphia (former residents of Ukraine). ). We have spent our vacations in many European countries, but this year decided to take a trip in Colorado and Wyoming National Parks. It was a road trip and I had found “Ores and Mine” B&B on Internet. I knew it should be good, but our stay in this place exceeded our best expectations. All rooms are magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before because our hosts Donna and John are such nice, friendly and interesting people. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from this place. It was absolutely amazing experience because this place is not only perfectly located overlooking a beautiful lake and snowy mountain peaks reflected in it, but there is also a collection of antique and historical items, which are collected with great taste, love and patience.
The B&B is located 30 minutes from Aspen, CO and it is good not only for travelers, but also I would recommend this place to honeymooners because it is isolated, nice and friendly, but at the same time close to many great attractions (Royal Gorge, Colorado Springs, Aspen, Leadville, Independence Pass, etc.)

The hot tub is out of this world. It is outside and you can enjoy a lake and mountains view during the day and the sky full of amazingly huge stars at night. In the morning we had a breakfast, which was made and served by Donna, which kept us full until almost dinner time. She even baked a big pie for six of us.

Overall I would say this is probably the best place we have ever stayed in and the most pleasant owners we have ever met. I hope some day we’ll go back and spend more time with John and Donna in their beautiful B&B in “Matchless” room enjoying quiet and everlasting scenery and great hospitality.
