I got a travel zoo and we sure got a deal! They gave us the Governors Suite with a fireplace and kitchenette. Huge room, amazing views. They need new carpet but staff told me they are already doing that in the rooms.
Bar was fun! Pool and hot tubs were great also had great views with huge windows.
Staff was helpful and gracious. Breakfast was ordinary, typical "continental" style. But good coffee and plenty of food.
We'll go back for sure!

Room tip: We loved the view of ski slopes. Pretty at night too. I think the forest view would be more boring. 5th floor is "no pets"....best views.

We also took advantage of a Travel Zoo offer for our stay. We spent 3 nights in a pet friendly room which was also a plus.. only $35 pet fee. Location is great right across from the ski area and just down the road from Winter Park and Fraser. Aspens were about 60% spent, but still a very nice time of year to take in the mountains. As others have said breakfast was OK...." fruit, muffins, pastries, bagels, yogurt, dry cereal (cheerios, fruit loops, frosted flakes, instant oatmeal) ... they did have some good ' home made ' cream cheeses for the bagels... Coffee was forgettable. I don't expect much more than this .. standard continental breakfast fare. This is truly the dead season in Winter Park until ski season begins... which was fine.

Swimming pool, hot tubs, and sauna were fine.... Moffatt Brewery resides in the hotel and is part of the bar on the second floor and the beer was excellent.. especially the Rugged IPA. Part of our Travel Zoo deal was 2 free beers per day... so this was a pleasant surprise. TV's were old, as someone else mentioned.... I didn't come up to watch TV... Wireless worked fine in the room, if that's a concern.... This was a good deal with the discount and would do it again...

Holes in the doors, air conditioning non-functional ,paint chipping off the walls, old very soft mattresses, no security lock inside the door.......need I go on? I wanted a nice weekend get away for my friend and I, and was very disappointed. It does have free wi-fi in the room. Hoping to change rooms in the morning for our second night, wish is luck.

But the place was nicer than I thought. We had a deal from Travel Zoo and came up to see the Aspens. The deal was excellent. The deal was what brought us here as we'd never heard of this place. We had a king bed, spacious room, view of the ski resort across the street. The room was clean, bed comfortable, room had a refrigerator. Very comfortable for us. The staff is helpful and friendly. I was told they are renovating rooms so the rooms will be even better as time goes on. The carpet was a bit frayed but as I mentioned, they are undergoing renovations. In the deal, we had option of two beers at the micro brewery but we asked for wine and they gave us two glasses of wine! The breakfast could be a little better as the fruit, muffins, bagels were old but there was yogurt, dry cereal (cheerios, fruit loops, frosted flakes, instant oatmeal) and thank you for hard boiled eggs! I understand though as this is the "in between season" time and maybe not a lot of attention to the breakfast for few guests. However, buying a fresh loaf of bread might have been nice. Maybe some better cereals. Colorado people are health conscious so maybe that should be something considered. I would have given this place 3.5 stars and I would definitely come again and recommend the lodge.

Room tip: Rooms facing the ski resort and highway are a bit loud. A train comes through occasionally but I actually love the sound of a train!

We stayed here because we got a good deal from Travelzoo. It included breakfast and 2 complementary beverages at the brewery/bar, which didn't open until 4pm. I wish I had pictures to go with my review. First off, it's off season. I was here with a girlfriend and we had no interest in anything ski related and expected it to be nice and quiet in town. Check in was easy and they let us check in early. Our room was not renovated. I assumed all the rooms were. We had a mountain view room which faced the road and the slopes and the sunrise was beautiful. The beds weren't bad. Complementary breakfast was OK but if you are trying to eat healthy and don't want just an apple and a yogurt, it wont do it for you. We planned to drink and dine in the hotel but that didn't happen because of personal problems so we can't say anything about that. This hotel isn't right in Winter Park but it's not far either. But, don't expect to walk into town. The ride takes about 5 minutes. This hotel can be confusing. It seems to be 2 or 3 buildings connected it. When we came back to the hotel in the evening, we entered through a door in the rear of the building and could not seem to find the elevator that went to the 4th floor. All we saw was one to the 7th and 8th floors. We ended up walking all the way around the building. It was a beautiful summer night so I won't complain about that but you may in January. The shops close up at 5pm so get your shopping done early. I'd stay here again if I had a good deal. There are 3 breweries in this town. We went to the two not in our hotel. The Library has a nice beer selection and good food. Hideaway Park is just a brewery. It's nice and small and I think there were quite a few locals hanging out here. Closes early.

Room tip: Mountain views face the road, which isn't super busy. It's a nice view. If you are a light sleeper, you can't sleep with the window open as you will hear every car go by.
