If all you care about is a cheap place to sleep and can tolerate rude and uncaring treatment at the front desk, then this is the spot for you. Typical and bland décor. It is fairly clean though.
We wouldn't stay again. Spend a little more and find a nicer spot if you can.

Room tip: Spend a little more and find a nicer spot if you can.

Seems like we were doing them a favor by staying there, only 5 rooms were rented, I expected better service. Had to wake them up at 6:45 to get what they called breakfast - coffee and some pre-packed pastries. I will not stay there again - I will drive further to get better service.

This is a decent motel in the middle of the town of Winter Park. Very close drive to Winter Park ski resort and about a 15 minute drive to Ski Granby. Since the motel is in the middle of town it's walkable to all of the shops and restaurants. The rooms will seem to be a bit dated but the beds and pillows were very comfortable. If you're into watching TV on your vacation you might be disappointed to not find a new flat screen TV in your room. The rooms are small but clean. Staff was friendly. If you're looking for a place to just sleep while you ski, shop and eat for a couple of days that's affordable then the Sundowner is the place.

The owner demanded an extra $20 for a bed with 2 rooms, the room smelled like urine and there was an 8X8" stain on one of the fitted sheets. Hair was to be found all around bathroom. Fridge was luke warm. The complex is very old (80s) with peeling paint in pool/hot tub, safety features - if you have kids - match the 80s as well. "Breakfast" was only coffee machine with pre-packaged danishes.

Room tip: Make sure you get in writing how many beds from them before checking in.

We just returned from Winter Park, CO to spend time with our grandson while his mom & dad skied at Winter Park. We were looking for a location that was right on Highway #40 in the middle of the town of Winter Park (NOT, at the mountain). We wanted to be close to shopping and dining so that we could leave the car parked, and just walk everywhere with our grandson. The Sundowner Motel was perfect for those expectations. The room foot print and style was dated. But, nearly everything had been updated and remodeled. So, if you insist on monster sized rooms with a massive LED tv, don't go here. But, if you want a very clean and very comfortable room, with an attentive owner, on-site, then give them a call. We were VERY pleased with our stay. It is across the street from a McDonalds for quick breakfasts. It is next door to a Chamber of Commerce visitor's bureau, and only half a block from a great city park that hosts concerts in the summer and free sledding in the winter. Most of the community's shopping and dining (and drinking) are within 2 or 3 city blocks. There is NO better location in Winter Park.
