The service was phenomenal, as is usual at the Omni. The staff was great. One morning my room service delivered eggs differently than I had ordered. Not only did they immediately remove it from my bill, but they sent up a beverage and fruit bowl later that day. That kind of service keeps customers coming back. Staff was responsive, friendly and helpful. The rooms were fine. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. The bedroom was spacious, though the bathroom vanity was strangely designed, and was awkward for normal use. It was also low, and not the current standard of kitchen height, so one is always bending over. The commode is placed right in front of the piece of the vanity most used (particularly by women), so getting ready in the morning can be a bit uncomfortable. While nicely decorated, there are definite signs of wear and aging that have not been addressed. I attached a copy of the doorway, that shows some of the wallpaper peeling (the edges were just painted over), and some of the frequent maintenance that isn't being done. The carpet in my room was stained. Don't get me wrong - hotels take a lot of abuse, and I travel 3-4 days every week, so I certainly compare hotels. The issue is that based on the the price of the rooms, I would expect all of these things to be fixed. These things were minor, and wouldn't prevent me from returning, if it weren't for the noise. My room was on the Temple Street side, and the windows are horrible, with no noise blocking at all. I heard all the garbage trucks, traffic, and every little sound from the street. The Wicked Wolf appears to be a college bar on Temple, and on Thursday night, in February, it was horrifically loud. Until 1am I could hear all the patrons, the yelling, and the loud banging of the music. There was no sound proofing, and I wasn't able to get a good nights' sleep in 5 nights. It may be better on the other side of the hotel, so I would recommend you ask for the side not on Temple.
There is a small business center, but there is a charge for printing every page. Maybe they don't want to cater to business travelers, but it was surprising.
