“Musty Smell, Dated Decor”

Boca Raton Bridge Hotel

10 Mar 2008

It is hard to understand why the owners of a hotel with such a great location choose to so neglect the property. The furnishings look as if they have not been changed in 40 years. The couch had a sag in it. The prints on the wall were faded and mildewed and the entire hotel had a musty smell that was hard to take. Seeing the general condition of things, we were afraid to try the lively restaurant, afraid the kitchen suffered from the same neglect as the rest of the property. On the positive side, the mattresses were comfortable and the bathrooms, though tiny, had been updated somewhat recently. The staff was friendly and the views are great, but we won't be back.

“Not too bad, but not worth the price”

Boca Raton Bridge Hotel

9 Mar 2008

Stayed in a junior suite at the Boca Bridge in March, 2008 for a week. The suite is really just two regular rooms, slightly modified to turn one part into a living room. The suite was rather old and tired looking, but we didn't have any problems with bugs or pests. The strangest aspect was the remarkable slant of the bedroom--the floor is so crooked the closet door wouldn't stay open and swung creakily closed on its on. One morning I got up early and nearly lost my balance because of the perception of falling across the room! The king sized bed was fine, and the bathrooms clean but terribly outdated. We had two balconies (one in each "section" of the suite), but the furniture was very old and rusty. I wouldn't have wanted to sit in it. We had a lovely view of the Intracoastal Waterway (no noise from the bridge if you request a waterway-facing room). Be advised of the loud music from the restaurant/bar upstairs on Saturday night. If not for the drone of the loud air conditioner drowning out the thump of the bass, I would not have been able to sleep. (It did stop at some point during the late evening.) Oh, and our room was not ready for check in at 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon! We decided to leave our bags and come back, rather than waste our time sitting in the lobby. BTW, we did not get charged for valet parking during our stay.

“Use Your Hard Earned Money Elsewhere”

Boca Raton Bridge Hotel

My husband and I stayed at bridges for three nights. We requested a king bed and did not get one. They were all sold out. There was an odor that either came from the toilet or shower drain. The room itself seemed old. We had to pay a $10/day valet parking. My husband and I are able to walk a few hundred yards but the front desk insists on charging everyone for parking and valet. There was a continental breakfast that was complimentary to a select few. We had to pay too much money for a so-so breakfast. Service was slow. Any complaints I had for the front desk was shot down with a "The manager will be in at 3pm."
We travel a lot. I'm very embaressed to say that this hotel got past my better judgement. Driving around the area, we saw numorous hotels on the beach that I'd pay more money to stay at.
FYI....when you book a hotel, check back periodically (online) to see if the price has been lowered. If it is, call back and insist on getting the lower rate. 99% hotels have honored the lower rate. Bridges would not.

“A great 3 star hotel, in a really perfect spot”

Being an avid fan of Priceline, I won the bid @ 90.00 for the Boca Bridge hotel. As soon as I won, I came here to read about it and was prepping myself for a bad experience.....Au contraire!!!
This hotel is great...albeit a bit dated and needs some revamping, and the bathroom is a bit of a tight squeeze ( there is a sepearte vanity area) the location is perfect, across the street from the Beach...in a clean, SAFE, quiet neighborhood. Boca is a prestigious location to live and the hotel is smack dab in the middle of it. Keep in mind all other hotels in Boca are far away from the beach…this is the only one where you just need to cross the street to see the ocean…the others you need to cross about 30 blocks. Restaurants are only a few minutes drive away....I walked the beach and the A1A route everyday...people were so friendly.
Yes the staff consists of young people, who made my stay as pleasant as possible...I do not understand why the fuss...they were all dressed nicely in ironed shirts while the hotel manager on duty was wearing a tie. I would hate to know that a place of business would discriminate against age [-]. All the staff were very kind...always willing to help and constantly asking me if I am enjoying my stay...leading me to believe that if there was something that they could do to make it more enjoyable, they would certainly try to accommodate.
The restaurant watercolors sits right on the inter-coastal water way where you are able to enjoy either the sun or the shade and watch the boats go by...while the food is not gourmet, it is quite tasty and the menu prices are quite suitable to the full range of travelers. ( I recommend the Ahi tuna)
The pool bar has a bunch of great bartenders…( you have got to have the Mojito) and although I had a small table in my room to work with ( the table was adequate) , I chose to work at the bar…the guys made it easy for me to work and relax since this was a “working vacation”
There is a small pool on site…always warm…very quaint….with a shallow end for the kids.
I had Sunday brunch at Carmen’s….a beautiful restaurant at the top of the hotel…not cheap..but well worth it to have a 360 degree view, of the ocean and the waterway…
All the food was really fabulous.
Hint: If your going to the beach as the valet for chairs and beach towels …he has both.
Use the concierge… set me up with inexpensive scuba trips and the Jet Ski’s are parked right there at the hotel and a discount is available if you eat at watercolors.
Note: There is a charge to park your car in the lot..10.00 per day..
Overall a pretty great stay…if people are complaining about furniture when you have all the beauty outside…and all that activity….we’ll it’s a shame because this hotel was simply perfect for what I had in mind…..and that was not gazing at the dresser in my room.

Good luck!

“Will not stay here again”

Boca Raton Bridge Hotel

1 Dec 2007

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights during the week of Thanksgiving and were extremely disappointed. The hotel is staffed with what look to be 19 year olds. The lobby/elevators have a disinfectant odor which is obviously needed due to all the ants in our room and throughout the hotel. They repeatedly told us that they would take care of them, but ants were all over the bathroom and vanity area during the entire week. There is minimal drawer space for clothes, no work space, and a a tiny bathroom.

The halls needed vacuuming, and they use their parking garage as storage space for old hotel furniture. It is not an appealing image seeing mattresses stacked upon one another.

The fitness room has antiquated equipment with minimal ventilation. Needless, to say we both got sick from the fumes of the disinfectants they use.

Apparently, locals think it's a nice place to stay because of their restaurant and Sunday brunch. Our advice....stay away!
