I stayed for several days at the Rodeway Inn in Clearwater, Florida. The hotel is a step above a budget hotel, it is more of an economy hotel. The rate was very competitive. The rooms are rather large for hotels of this class, and it is obvious that the hotel is being well cared for. Lots of fresh paint and the maintenance man is working in and around the property each day. I had a few questions for the GM and he was onsite each day and I didn't have to jump through any hoops to talk to him, he was just there in his office, door open, and welcomed me in. For me, the best part of my stay is to have a clean room in a hotel staffed 24/7 and right at the hub between Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, St. Pete and Tampa. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from each of these areas. The only downfall for me is that there is no food service at the hotel with the exception of a few vending machines. I had to order delivery from local restaurants or hop in the car. But once in the car, there were restaurants of every kind within a five minute ride. All of my favorite franchise restaurants are right there and there are even three 24 hour restaurants within a five minute drive. This hotel experience is as good as it gets for the rate, and that means an A plus for value.
