“Embassy Suites”

Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach Resort

10 Jul 2008

We were also there for the 4th of July and it was a bit of a mess but by Sunday the place was back to normal and very enjoyable. I got the feeling that people booked a room for themselves and then invited a number of "guests". The staff was friendly and the rooms spacious, the breakfast was more than fair and the Managers Cocktail Hour was generous. I would definitely go back but would avoid any major holidays.

“Wonderful time at the Embassy Suites”

Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach Resort

5 Jul 2008

We stayed here for 4 nights - June 26 -30, 2008. Our room was spacious, clean & nicely decorated. Having 2 bathrooms (one with shower & the other with a bathtub) was definitely a plus when traveling with 2 teenagers! When using the master bathroom, be sure to turn the light on before you go into the toilet area, as the light switch is outside in the vanity area of the bathroom. Also, for some strange reason, the bath towels were stored in the vanity area rather than in the actual shower area. We were in room #427 with a very nice view of the pool & ocean. This room had a very small & narrow balcony without any chairs. Evidently, the larger balconies are with the rooms that have king bed rather than 2 double beds. A little shell was placed on the bed for a "tropical" welcoming.
The manager's reception was OK - basically just chips, pretzels & beverages. The buffet breakfast in the morning was very good, but the dining area did get crowded later in the morning and on the weekend. The buffet included an omelet making station, bacon, various types of cereal (but not granola), scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes/French toast, muffins, bagels, toast, fruit (oranges, bananas & cantaloupe), various juices, milk & coffee.
The beach is right across a non-busy street. The hotel provides complimentary chairs & umbrellas at the beach. However, be sure to get a towel from the pool attendant before you go down to the beach. There are numerous lifeguard stations on the beach all the way down to Deerfield pier. The waves were small, but the water temperature was very nice - around 81 or 82 degrees. Some sections of the beach had more seaweed than other parts. There were a few jellyfish, but that didn't seem to detract people from swimming in the ocean. There were some shells on the beach, but nothing in comparison to the wonderful variety of shells on the Gulf Coast.
If you want to use your skim-board, you need to go to the right of the stairs or all the way down past the pier, as the lifeguards do not like people to skim-board on the populated sections of the beach. The hotel has some boogie boards available, but not very many. However you can buy one at Wings for $13. We didn't think the snorkeling was very exciting, as all we saw was sand!! Perhaps we weren't snorkeling in the right place.
We ate lunch at the hotel restaurant a couple times - slow service, but the food was fine. We walked down the oceanfront boardwalk 15-20 minute walk to the pier and enjoyed our meals at JB's, Ocean 234 & Cafe Viggiano. (JB's was probably our favorite restaurant.) It was a very nice & safe area to walk to in the evening.
The pool at the hotel was nice, but unfortunately the water temperature was very warm due to the hot & humid weather. They were in the process of remodeling the activity hut by pool while we were there, but it looked like that was almost finished. The pool attendant set-up the towels, pool toys, etc. adjacent to the area, so this minor construction was not a problem at all.
The exercise room was adequate - with 3 treadmills, 2 Precor machines, a stationary bicycle, free weights & some other weight machines. It was never too crowded during our stay. However, if you go to the exercise room in the early morning, you better wear sunglasses, as it is very bright in that room, as the windows are not tinted, and there are no blinds on the windows!!
All in all we had a very nice time at the Embassy Suites at Deerfield Beach, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Embassy week of 6/21/08. Great Hotel. Had a problem with the refrigerator not cooling. Called front desk and a brand new one was brought to our room immediately. Room was on 7th floor, south ocean view with very small balcony. Rooms were very clean and roomy. Employees very friendly and always spoke to us. Breakfast was busy, but always managed to get something to eat. Food was OK. Never waited in line for omelet it was always busy. Bar area was very nice also. Still some remodeling being done around the pool area. It was really no problem though. The only thing that really bothered us was when the gate to the beach closed, it really made a loud bang. But other than that our entire stay was very enjoyable and we had no complaints.

Two employees that were extremely friendy and hard working were Dee Buys the bartender and the clean up, poolman, and who knows what else he was responsible for Lorris ?. I swear he was there at least 12 hours a day and everytime you spoke to him he had a smile on his face and helped you with whatever you needed. Dee was always extremely busy, she was actually working there when we were last there in 98.

Several restaurants you can walk to: Whale's Rib - very good, JB's on the beach - good buy pricey, Bob's Pizza/Amante ? Italian Rest. - Very good. Also drove to the Cove Rest. on the waterway - very good, and J.Mark's (I believe in Pompano Beach) very good.

Went to Butterfly World, I think it was about $20 with a coupon from the hotel for $2 off. It wasn't that far and was really a nice place. Butterfly, birds, beautiful plants, etc. Was well worth it.

Another thing we found enjoyable was an environmental reserve just north about 10 minutes called Gumbo Limbo. They just ask for donations, but it's really a neat place. There is a tower to look out from, trails, several tanks with turtles, sharks, etc. It's really an educational place. A school group was there and they really enjoyed it.

We will definitely go back to the Embassy and recommend it to friends. Just didn't like having to pay $20 per day for parking. It should just be part of your room charge, but they've got you because there's no where to park.

Any questions, just let me know. Had a great time.

“Deerfield beach more like Landfilll Beach”

This was the filthiest beach and filthiest pool I've ever seen. The garbage on the beach and floating in the pool was still there the next day when we returned to both areas. Every other complaint pales in comparison. From the toothpaste on the mirror and vanity counter from the previous guest. The dirty glasses that looked like someone wiped the rim but left the finger prints and toothpaste and "WHATEVER" from the previous guest. The "clearn" towels smelled dirty.

We booked this stay for our 20th anniversary and was told we'd have a room with a balcony where we could sit out. At check-in we were told that we didn't have a balcony room and couldn't get one. I told them it was our 20th anniversary and the check-in girl just gave us a blank look. The check-in clerk acted as though it was an inconvenience to check us in. She didn't tell us anything about the area.

There are no restaurants near the hotel. If you want to walk a mile plus there are a couple. Otherwise, get in your car and drive to Boca.

The "HOT" breakfast was cold both days.

Very poor service from wait staff at dinner with tremendously long wait for service and dinner even though restaurant was empty.

It was readily apparent that there was no pride by the employees and they were quite apathetic to their guests. Even the free drinks at the manager's reception couldn't blur the edges off this very below par hotel experence.

Our family of five stayed in the Embassy Suites June 9-11 and had a great time. We booked a "Sunset View" suite... facing west as opposed to facing the ocean. The suites were clean and large... they had two bathrooms (one with a tub/shower off the bedroom and one with a shower in the main area), a full wet bar with a fridge, and they were nicely decorated.

The nightly manager's receptions were great... they made the kids Shirley Temples or Virgin Daiquiries and mom and I could have draft beer, wine, or any simple mixed drink I asked for. The barkeep was great (older lady... didn't catch her name) and was working like she had four arms. The included breakfasts were pretty impressive as well, and there was plenty of dining area so you didn't feel the least bit crowded.

The beach area is directly across the street, with chairs and umbrellas provided by Embassy Suites free of charge. There are large rock cluster on the beach which made for some pretty cool snorkeling for the kids and I during high tide times... they're crawling with crabs and all kinds of fish.

We never even used the pool as the kids were too thrilled with the ocean, but it was laid out nicely with plenty of lounge chairs. Towels were provided in a hut by the pool as well. The pool was never crowded during the couple of days we were there... maybe 30 people max hanging out in the area. We didn't use the spa either.

The staff was extremely helpful in finding restaurants or whatever else I needed. A+ service. The nearest restaurant area is a nice 20 minute walk to the north along the beach sidewalk and has plenty of restaurants and shops... we made the walk both of our two nights.

There is still some renovation going on at the hotel, as we saw men working in a room facing the pool... the window had been removed during the day but had been replaced that night. Other than that I never heard or saw any work taking place on the property.

Valet or self park is $20 either way, so we just self parked so we wouldn't have to wait on the car. $20 may be a bit steep, but at least I always knew where my car was and it was always in the shade.

I'd return here in a heartbeat if I ever get back to the area.
