“WHAT A DUMP! HOW DEPRESSING !!”

Whale Watch Motel

12 May 2008

Yes, the cottage was fine but the grounds are terrible. Everything is dead. There are old rusty appliances near the laundry room just sitting there, painting is peeling on all the buildings, screen doors are missing or have no screens, weeds and dead plants everywhere; it's a wasteland! Then there are these short concrete cylinders in front of the rooms making it difficult to unload the car when you have to step over them. One lady almost tripped and imagine coming in at night and not seeing them. Why don't these people clean this place up? I was so depressed, I couldn't wait to leave. I saw the owner only once and that's when we checked in to pay. The city needs to bring a giant dumpster and haul all the junk away or better yet, condemn the place. Why would you buy a motel and let it go like this? The owner’s cars are even sitting there rusting away like everything else. We are not that fussy and love old mom and pops but this place needs to be sold to someone who believes in doing something or else its needs to be razed. We are still flabbergasted at the dead, depressing, junky appearance. Buy some paint, doing someone! It was so bad; I was even picking up debris near our room. We will never go back again. YUCK! AWFUL!!

“Peaceful beach getaway”

Whale Watch Motel

7 Apr 2008

This place was simple, relaxing and a great value. It exceeded my expectations.

It looked kind of dumpy from the outside, but inside, the rooms were clean and functional. The bathroom was a little bit small, but it had a good kitchen.

This was the perfect motel for sitting on the beach and doing nothing.

“Great Times at the Whale Watch”

My Husband and I have been visiting the Whale Watch on and off for five years. Everytime we visit, whether we are with family or just the two of us, we are always greeted with a smile and anything we need is just a moment away. We are a family with many dogs, at one visit with our entire family we had 6 loving companions spread out in three rooms and we felt right at home. The beach is unspoiled and as if we were the only guests to have every walked it. The light breeze and the only sound you hear is the ocean! Flagler is an inviting town with in reach of larger attractions with in 25 miles north or south. We will always visit the Whale Watch. home away from home!

“The Whale Watch Motel is GREAT, the owners most cordial”

Whale Watch Motel

1 Feb 2008

Our weekend away in January was really great. The weather was stormy, the ocean was rough and we loved every minute of it. I loved my walks with my dog along the beach and feeling the sea mist on my face. I really needed this relaxation to restore my soul. We found the Motel to be very very clean with great views. That morning coffee hit the spot also. The Motel owners were most cordial and helpful in every way. We are planning a return visit in the near future. John Reynolds

“The Perfect Florida Get-A-Way”

Whale Watch Motel

This is a singular experience that you will not get at any hotel chain or resort. The Whale Watcher keeps alive what everyone dreams of having in a vacation. But first you have to give the city of Flagler Beach credit for creating an opportunity such as this. As I was told, there is a city ordinance that prohibits structures to be more than 35 ft tall. Additionally, no constuction is allowed on the actual beach. To top it off, all street lights are yellow to reduce light pollution, perfect for sitting on the beach looking at the stars.

The Whale Watcher however adds its own touches. First off its owner takes on more of a guest persona than that of an owner. Quick to offer amenities such as condiments for food, lighter fluid for the two grills in the court yard that over look the Atlantic to offering his own personal surf board for guest use! There is a huge stash of various beach equipment as well as a swimming pool for those too lazy to walk the 20 ft to the beach.

The strech of A1A that the Whale Watch is on is almost like a ghost town. The dozen times I crossed the road there I might have had to wait once for a car to pass. This seclusion adds to the charm of the beach which we never shared with more than a dozen people at any one time and on several occations had it entirely to ourselves. This is in contract to Daytona Beach which on the same day would have hundereds per city block of beach.

The final touch on the Whale Watch is its dog friendly aditude, as the owner explained "I find that dog owners are much more respectful guests".

There are several different layouts from a beach house for 8 to suites with kitchen to typical rooms. Rates are amazingly reasonable.

If you want a break from the crowd and an amazingly relaxing time, this is the place.
