Wow - I can't believe the variety of problems I've had recently at this particular 'Days Inn' property! Typically, I have quite a wonderful experience and no concerns whatsoever with Days Inn. The 'Days Inn Midtown' is certainly an exception and here are some of the issues I experienced from memory:
(1) Upon arrival, the price of the room jumped up to $ 39.00 from the $ 33.75/night I was quoted on their very own website. Because I didn't have my laptop handy I could not prove it, and the folks at the Front Desk couldn't find the $ 33.75 rate anywhere. So, I left and later decided to book through Priceline and received the $ 34/night rate instantly - no problems.
(2) While the 'Days Inn Midtown' advertises "Free Wireless Internet" both on their website and on their 'can't-miss-it' lighted roadside sign out in front of the hotel, the room I was given could not get an Internet signal at all. The next day I was moved to a closer room to get the "Free Wireless" service (which was subject to room availability, of course). Shouldn't any/all rooms come with "Free Internet" if advertised as such?
(3) Although we had initially specified a "Non-Smoking" room, the new room we were moved to absolutely reaked of cigarette smoke. It was difficult to determine the source - whether the smell was coming from inside or outside the room - but it was definately noticeable.
(4) The ambient noise was so loud at night, that we had to call the Front Desk about that too. They indicated that they would be able to move us the next day - but the next day came and no one called to follow-up. So, we went down to talk to the folks at the Front Desk ourselves -- but apparently we were too late. Room re-assignments can only be processed before 12 noon. I couldn't believe it.
(5) And I don't even want to mention how many times Housekeeping knocked on the door early morning with the "Do-not-disturb" sign posted outside.
Needless to say, this has perhaps been the absolute worst Hotel I've ever stayed in bar none -- and I've stayed in quite a few. Although the pool area was well-maintained and clean. If you need to stay overnight in Fort Pierce, there are plenty of choices. Don't make this mistake twice.
