“Worst Experience Ever”

Days Inn Fort Pierce Midtown

11 Mar 2008

I booked two queen beds since there were four of us travelling. When we arrived we were given two suites with two queen beds each and foldout couch each (enough to sleep 12 people total!). When we protested the second room because we didn't need it, the guy behind the desk wouldn't show us the bill, told us we were being disrespectful among other things which I probably can't write here because it would be censored. Then he turned people away saying there was no vacancy.

Then he kicked us all out of our ONE room (the other room was still empty) for no reason at all! He said we were making a scene in the lobby for demanding our bill and telling people who came in off the road at 11pm looking for a room that there was one available. I guess communicating with other people in the lobby is forbidden in this guys hotel (or country).

I was denied my bill, denied the hotel owners name and contact information, and was thrown out on the street.

My family and I had booked two rooms. Went to check in at 5:00pm and was told that one room was not ready.
Not off to a good start.
We finally got into our rooms around 6:00pm. Rooms were clean but were showing some signs of wear.
The towels this hotel provided were the worst I have ever used in my life. They felt like sandpaper and were not user friendly at all.
I use a cpap machine and I had to plug it in on the wall opposite my bed with an extension cord since there were no electrical outlets near my headboard or on either wall on each side of the bed. Just an inconvienence to have to leave a cord across the floor of the room all night. (Tripping hazzard for kids)
Water temperature in showers went up and down in both of our rooms. Could not get a constant temperature at any time. Wireless internet worked fine in our rooms as we were fairly close to main office and swimming pool.
Will probably try a different hotel next time but I would stay here again in a pinch as price was not too bad but you do get what you pay for.

Warning: If you book too good of a deal online this hotel will kick you out without warning.

Maids also come into the room without warning, even with a Do not Disturb sign out. Breakfast consists of only mini muffins and coffee, only on the days they feel like putting anything out at all. wireless signal kept dropping even though i was in the main building. Did not use the pool because it looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The lights in our bathroom went out so we called the desk, they told us that they would sent out a maintenance person, he never came, so the next day i went to the desk and asked about it and they asked me if i wanted to install it myself! I wondered what i was paying them for. We booked a double queen for $35 dollars online, but the deal was too good for them so less then a week in we were thrown out with no warning.

Avoid at all costs!

“Best Deal of the Year!”

Days Inn Fort Pierce Midtown

29 Nov 2007

In this day and age, when you get an overnight rate of $40.00 including tax, you have your doubts, and we didn't expect much. This is not a fancy place, and the bullet proof glass at the check in desk did make my eyes widen, but we were pleasantly surprised by the clean and well equiped room that was provided.
Also a surprise was the excellent meal we received at the attached Steak House Restaurant, which turned out to also offer a Cuban menu. The waiter and food were exceptional. I would definately consider staying overnight here again if in the area. It certainly beat paying double at comparable nearby properties.

“Maybe the Worst Hotel in FL”

Wow - I can't believe the variety of problems I've had recently at this particular 'Days Inn' property! Typically, I have quite a wonderful experience and no concerns whatsoever with Days Inn. The 'Days Inn Midtown' is certainly an exception and here are some of the issues I experienced from memory:

(1) Upon arrival, the price of the room jumped up to $ 39.00 from the $ 33.75/night I was quoted on their very own website. Because I didn't have my laptop handy I could not prove it, and the folks at the Front Desk couldn't find the $ 33.75 rate anywhere. So, I left and later decided to book through Priceline and received the $ 34/night rate instantly - no problems.

(2) While the 'Days Inn Midtown' advertises "Free Wireless Internet" both on their website and on their 'can't-miss-it' lighted roadside sign out in front of the hotel, the room I was given could not get an Internet signal at all. The next day I was moved to a closer room to get the "Free Wireless" service (which was subject to room availability, of course). Shouldn't any/all rooms come with "Free Internet" if advertised as such?

(3) Although we had initially specified a "Non-Smoking" room, the new room we were moved to absolutely reaked of cigarette smoke. It was difficult to determine the source - whether the smell was coming from inside or outside the room - but it was definately noticeable.

(4) The ambient noise was so loud at night, that we had to call the Front Desk about that too. They indicated that they would be able to move us the next day - but the next day came and no one called to follow-up. So, we went down to talk to the folks at the Front Desk ourselves -- but apparently we were too late. Room re-assignments can only be processed before 12 noon. I couldn't believe it.

(5) And I don't even want to mention how many times Housekeeping knocked on the door early morning with the "Do-not-disturb" sign posted outside.

Needless to say, this has perhaps been the absolute worst Hotel I've ever stayed in bar none -- and I've stayed in quite a few. Although the pool area was well-maintained and clean. If you need to stay overnight in Fort Pierce, there are plenty of choices. Don't make this mistake twice.
