This hotel is a joke; we paid $180/night in third week of March, primarily because I was going to be in SE Florida for work and my wife wouldn't have a rental car and I wanted to get her in a comfortable place where she could walk to the beach and other activities.
Even though their website (and the 800 number) says it is TWO BLOCKS from the beach I can tell you this is a flat out lie. As the crow flies MAYBE it is about three blocks (but who cares). It's actually at least two blocks, I would say nearly three, to the traffic light where you need to CROSS A HIGHWAY in order to walk another few blocks to get to the beach. And in order to get to the light there ISN'T EVEN A SIDEWALK...Needless to say, my pregnant wife with two kids and a stroller were prisoners to this hotel because of complete misrepresentation by this Hampton Inn owners website.
Upon checking into this hotel I pleaded with the front desk lady to let us out of the reservation and she refused (even though I literally had just made the reservation only three hours before!). She was rude, uncooperative, arrogant, and difficult.
The hotel itself is just okay, looks pretty dated. Bathroom was tiny. Carpet is from the 70's. Hardly any outlets, had to plug my computer into a bathroom outlet since there weren't any other accessable ones I could find.
Upon checkout the hotel manager was arrogant and uncooperative, refusing to provide me a 100% satisfaction guarantee. He agreed to reduce my rate and we left amicably, but it was largely due to his absolute representation that his hotel "NEVER" represents that it's only two blocks from the beach. Well, I reminded him that when I tried to check in (and actually get out of my reservation) the front desk girl said that it's only two blocks from the beach as well.
Upon my departure from this lousy experience I decided to check out the website and the 800 numbers and BOTH stated that the hotel is only two blocks from the beach. I called the customer service number and complained, as I think it's unfair that families will be making decisions based on this information and will be misled by this lie as well. I am happy that the customer service honored by satisfaction guarantee request, however, I am exceedingly disappointed they didn't update the website with factual and accurate information. Due to the owners inability to communicate accurate information I am going to do the duty by spreading the word online in travel review sites. There's no objective in doing this other than simply trying to save another family a lousy experience and also encourage the owners and the Hampton Inn to be credibly and trustworthy--and for Hampton Inn to demand this from their owners/franchisees.
I normally love Hampton Inn's b/c you know what to expect and the service and quality is generally very good. This Hampton Inn has made me question this, particularly given the complete misrepresentation on their website.
In summary, I would just STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. It's not worth the money, and the location is lousy. And the service leaves much to be desired.
