Our otherwise nice, three-day stay in an ocean-view room (costing more than $1300 with all the state and local taxes) was marred by an intermittent stench of sewage coming from the shower in our room. We reported it three times, and each time the hotel said it was sending "Engineering" to fix the problem. However, "Engineering" was a young man, looking to be about high school age. The first time he arrived with a tiny plunger, spent five minutes and said "you're good to go." Second time he poured some yellow crystals down the shower drain and pronounced the problem fixed. Third time I don't know what he did, but I do know we had the smell of sewage back again.
Other than that the room was nice - beautiful furnishings, a great bed with wonderful linens and that view! But to spend the better part of $1500 in three nights and have a shower smelling of excrement is totally unacceptable. Jupiter Beach Resort's Management has not responded to either of my enquiries, in writing, about this.
As for service, it was mediocre at best. Most of the employees seemed to think that requests were bothering them or cutting in on their personal time. The lone employee at the front desk each time I interacted with him or her was semi-polite but not remotely friendly or helpful. Even a request for a newspaper to the telephone operator was met with a long pause and an indication that this was an unusual request. The only truly outstanding service was room service breakfast, both delicious and reasonably priced.
