“AWFUL - would NEVER recommend”

AWFUL - smelled like mold, slow water drain in sink. Stopped for night because it was starting to get dark - wanted beach - what a disappointment. Very buggy, small, no place for swimming. Go to Key Largo and expect white sand and beach - HA! We are from Northern Michigan and have ten times better beaches than this was. Volley ball court rocky and ball kept disappearing in bushes so was no fun. 5 ft by 2 ft chunk of ceiling fell off balcony in front of our door right in front of me - front desk didn't care. Price very unreasonable - $160 because there was some sort of race on Florida mainland - clerk said room was normally $60 - wouldn't give us a break. It was so bad I sat in the car or stood outside most of the night - as did most everybody else registered there. Actually hated to have my kids sleep in the sheets - we all slept in our clothes. By 7:00 am most people were gone. As for the outdoor restaurant next door - what a joke!. All out of chicken, all out of cheese for French Onion Soup, extremely overpriced. Would have left if were familiar with the area and it wasn't dark. People upstairs were screaming because they had lizards in their room - staff didn't care, wouldn't give them money back - just changed rooms. Other people did leave. Would NEVER recommend.

We went down to the keys after a week on the Royal Caribbean ship, was a little bit difficult to find, but when we did, we had a great time, the room was dark and we had to have the lights on but as we only slept in the room so that was ok. The maid service was excellent always clean towels available. Good internet service available so my husband was pleased, The pool was great and my boys of 13 and 11 loved fishing off the little piers, we are hope to go back again next October !

“many problems here, bad experience”

Firstly, when we arrived in our room, the hotel floor was covered in sand. I know that we were in the Keys and all, but honestly there were piles of sand on the floor. Plus it was so humid inside the room (I think their insulation is not that great and the ac while blowing -- loudly -- never really got cool) the sand was sticking to everything, especially the bottom of our feet - we had to put our shoes back on! We had the cleaning lady mop the floor the next day - while she did it, she seemed confused as to what the issue was.

Also, when I booked the room, they put a charge on my credit card for more than the total amount of our stay. I have traveled quite a bit and have never had this happen. Usually, when you make a reservation at a hotel, they charge for perhaps one night up front and thats what I was expecting. This hotel charged my card for both nights + a $100 security deposit. To add insult to injury these charges, along with the actual amount of my bill (that is, over double what my costs are) are still appearing on my card and if I needed access to these funds, they would be unavailable. Be very careful with this hotel. I have since heard other people having the same problem with Bayside. When I called to ask about what these charges were, the clerk was disdainful and dismissive of my concerns; although she told me that the bank would take them off, she could not tell me when. I will never stay here again - there are other hotels in Key Largo that are nicer and reasonably priced.

“Dark, uninviting and somewhat unmemorable”

Bayside Resort

28 Oct 2007

Not a particularly memorable stay. First off we drove past the place 3 times as the signage was obscured, when I commented on this to the guy at reception, he just smiled as if to say 'Isn't that fun?!'. He really didn't seem to care and when we asked for a recommendation about the Everglades he wasn't overly helpful.

Our room was on the top floor, thankfully serviced by a lift and bellman's trolley. The room itself was huge, as was the bed. Oddly the hand basin was right inside the front door, but the bathroom was clean and tidy. The room itself was dark, with nasty shutters on the windows that were difficult to close. The aircon was really noisy but we didn't need it as the room was freezing when we got in.
Sadly no fridge, but we did have coffee making facilities. Breakfast consisted of danish and coffee. The pool and area looked nice but it was raining so we didn't get to use it. The woman at check-out was thankful more helpful than the guy at check-in.

My wife & I stayed at the Cay Club for 3 nights early in October 2007. This was part of a reitrement holiday for my Wife.
The room was so dark we had to have the lights on all the time, the shutters looked like bars & the air conditioning was too noisy to have on at night. We changed from a ground floor room to one on the first floor with little difference. Unfortunately to add to our misery the Spooks Restaurant was closed while we were there, so was the 'Cay' owned Pilot restaurant & the Cafe / bar adjacent.
The room was clean & the staff OK. We took our coffee & cake breakfast & sat at the Spook's tables, otherwise stayed away as much as possible.
In my opinion it was more like a Motel than a holiday Hotel.
The cheap motel we stayed at in Kissimmee was better
I will not go back
