This place must of been great in the 80's. The grounds are nice and the staff pleasant, but the rooms really need a makeover for the price ( around $450-$500 for an upgraded room). My room had seen better days with stains on the walls and carpet almost worn through. The shower sliding door was hanging off and you had to throw your body into the patio doors to open them. The beds are really comfortable. I know this is a resort and the size of the property is huge so upkeep costs must be a lot, but at least remodel the rooms (especially the suites!) if Marriott wants to keep charging that much for a room. The whole Key Largo/resort deal isn't enough of a draw. I not only feel like i was hustled, I actually was hustled ! This is the second time i've stayed in a Marriott in the last couple of months and the last one wasn't that nice either. I see other posters here saying that it's not like other Marriotts, but it seems that it is becoming a trend at a lot of them, not just one or two.
