My step mom and my two children and I stayed for a couple days. The hotel is older, but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was expensive, but we did have breakfast there and it was good. I would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Just came back from Marriot in Key Largo. Overall everything was wonderfull. Very clean, modern rooms (we had beach view), marble shower, new bedding. prompt service, GORGEOUS GROUNDS, plenty of space and chairs by the pool. Feels like Carribean resort: secluded, huge property. The pool itself is big and clean. There are 3 restaurants on the property. The funny things is that they all serve the same (90% the same) food. However, we enjoyed our breakfast at Gus's grill, had decent lunch there as well (you must try that bread they serve with it! Try the one with sesami seeds!) We also stepped by Cafe (Breezers? I think) for a midnight drink after dinner.
Now one down side: if you love the ocean like I do, forget all said above. There is no ocean. There are 2 small beaches on the property, but the sand is not real and you can't swim in the ocean (very shallow, a lot of small fish and grass) every time I tried to get in, I came out promptly after stepping on the sleezy grass. Yaks! So, we mostly stayed at the beach, but went swimming in the pool right behind us. However, I heard that Florida Keys don't have decent beaches in general, so its not the hotel but rather location overall that failed to deliver in this case. Other comments: For restaurants nearby, I recommed Fish House (there are 2 of them right next to each other, I liked the one with outside seating "Encore" Fish House), Big Chill is nice too (huge portions), SunDowners was great as well (all these places are within 1-3 minutes drive from hotel)

The place looks nothing like it does in pictures. In order to rent a movie..you must put a $50 deposit down for a DVD player...then they tell you to drive to Blockbuster! Not a normal marriott. No one to carry your luggage or even help. Self park only and the parking is horrid. The pool and bar is dirty... the beach area is about 70ft long and the sand feels like mud. Beach is also dirty. oh, and the elevators "close down" at 11 P.M. WHAaaa??? NOT RECCOMENDED...and PS..I love marriotts.
this is the worst one I have EVER been to.

This is a great hotel to stay at compared to the others in the area, although a little pricy. We paid $469 a night (spring break) for a room with an "island view" which consisted of some trees blocking the view of a trailer home area. Water view rooms were more. I definitely wouldn't pay for a lesser view because you would just be looking at the brick wall of the main lobby with no where to sit outside your room. All of the other rooms at least have a private balcony.
The hotel staff was friendly and always helpful. At the pool there was always staff walking around either offering to get you food or drink or just asking how your stay was going and if you needed anything.
The pool was warm and the beach area was quite nice considering there really are no beaches in the area.
My only negative would be food on the property. The bar/lounge and tiki bar both have the same menu which is very small. Basically hamburgers, hot dogs and such. The food was good but if staying more than a day or two, you can get very tired of eating the same options every day.
The restaurant on the property was very high end for prices. Even breakfast began at $10 and went up from there. We decided to pass on breakfast and did try the restaurant one night for dinner. The food was good but nothing to brag about and the servings were small. There also wasn't many options, especially if you don't like sea food. We found much better restaurants to eat at outside of the property.
It's a great place if you have small kids. There is a small game room and they had people set up every day at a small hut where there were all sorts of craft activities. They also had someone available for hair braiding.
There is a lot of restaurant options in the area and even a full grocery store (Publix) just a couple miles down the road.
