Clearly the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at. Will return again soon.

Great beach front and very quiet.

Kitchen in every room and just an all around great place. there may be less expensive but not better.

We had read a wonderful write up mentioning boating and spa , BUT the motel had detriorated. Boat was in disrepair as was the jacuzzi spa. The beach was not inviting. Staff would not issue refund so we could not change locales. Rooms were tattered and old.

We stayed here in July 2006. It was our first trip to the keys, and we were mesmerized by the peacefulness there. Popps made it worthwhile. The staff were friendly and accommodating to the nth! Although the rooms are a little dated, this added to the charm. We felt as if we'd stepped back in time, which was delightful. Very stressfree and relaxing. We grilled outside our room and ate on the beach. Until you've relaxed in a hammock under the palm trees on the beach with a margarita in hand, and listened only to the peaceful sound of soft wind, you haven't lived!
The beach was clean and the water clear! We're going back again this summer just for Popps!

After reading the previous reviews I was worried about Popp's but ended up being satisfied. This is a budget motel so the rooms were "well worn". I believe there are 9 rooms and we stayed in room #9 which is closest to the beach and had a view of the water. We had friends who stayed in room #7which looked identical to ours but was cheaper. I'm guessing we paid more for the view.
We were told that the Keys were hit hard by a hurricane last season which may be why the grounds were unkempt for previous reviewers. I didn't think the grounds looked that bad. I didn't see matresses or rugs lying around. You can swim right off the beach and the water was crystal clear. Nicer than the beach at Pennekamp State Park. I would stay here again.
