I visited in February 2012. Dolphins Plus and Dolphins Cove are both in the same area and are sister companies. I decided I would do two different experiences and take advantage of the 'combo' price. It IS very expensive, but for me a once in a lifetime experience so I was willing to pay. In the morning, I did the structured swim at Dolphins Cove. It started with a 45 minute briefing which was really interesting, followed by the swim, which consisted on tricks with the dolphins including stroking, shaking hands, kisses, dorsal fin pulls, foot pushes, cuddles, jumping through hoops (you hold the hoop). Wet suits are provided and the staff are very friendly and encouraging. Professional photos were taken, any they were about $8 each, but I really treasure them. You get given them on a digital CD. In the afternoon, we went to Dolphins Plus for a 'natural' swim. This started with a briefing, and then we swam loose with the dolphins. Each experience I spent approx 45 minutes in the water with the dolphins. Swimming with them loose was great, it really felt like you were in the wild but you knew you were safe (plus it is illegal in Florida to swim in the wild with dolphins. The two experiences together cost me $260. If you would like to watch a video of my whole experience to see how it is, visit http://youtu.be/YYivAkU_M38 . I was going to swim with dolphins in Discovery Cove in Orlando, but this was a much more natural environment and you get a lot more time in the water with them. As far as I am aware, no-one else does the 'loose' swim.
