It is indeed impossible to avoid this street. It is, afterall, the main drag. Yes, it is filled with t-shirt shops, bars, and a variety of restaurants, hotels, and other shops. But most of what you want to see in Key West is within a couple of blocks of Duval. The entire Duval St. is only about a mile long and goes from sea to sea. It is jammed with characters as well as visitors looking at the characters. After being there for a few days I wondered how all the bars (I heard over 200 in Key West) and funky shops could make enough money to stay open. But the visitors keep pouring in whether they drive, fly, or come for the day on some cruise ship. There is so much more to Key West than this one street but it is impossible to stay away too. Duval was not a highlight for me but it was also impossible to ignore.

Key West is amazing first of all. The weather,people,music,food,and full of life energy. But the highlight of my vacation was Duval St. The bars, restaurants, activities such as the ghost tours, running into cross dressers,were amazing. Gotta try the Hard Rock Cafe, and Sloppy Joes. Dont forget to get all the fun activities in such as parasailing....amazing experience. I went up with my brother and saw a sea turtle. And lets hope you're not sea sick for the glass bottom boat which was a blast. Especially when you're at sea for the sunset, and to enjoy a glass of champagne to celebrate the view. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, The Casa Marina is beautiful and amazing with its' very own beach. Also try the Hyatt Resort. Nothing can beat them. So if you're looking for a great and unforgettable time, dont forget your dancing shoes and a good attitude and head down to key West Duval st.!

I didn't think it was possible to have this much fun just walking a street! And we had 2 kids in tow - I can't imagine the blast it would be without them! We started at one end, worked our way to the other - finishing with watching an AMAZING once-in-a-lifetime sunset at the end of the street. Wow, does it get any better? We were only there for a day trip so we only had an afternoon in Key West but it is top on our list to go back! What a fun street - the mixture of establishments and people is energizing and invigorating and makes you think that if all this different stuff can co-exist in peace, then here is hope after all!

First let me start by saying, I am a 37 years old who loves to have fun but can do it without drinking a ton. I got the feeling from others reviews that they seem to feel that you cant have fun here unless your drunk! Wrong! I love this place and cannot get enough of the fun and quirky spirit of Duval St and Key West. You just never know who your going to meet here. Everyone is so nice and so full of life! It is an experience everyone should have not once but several times in there lives!
