Very happy with our choice. The location was a block off of Duval - quiet when we wanted but very close to the heart of the action. The room was a decent size, clean and neat. Our private balcony a perfect place to unwind after a day out. This is not a 5 star hotel but a wonderful little hideaway in a very fun place. We will definitely come back.

The Merlin Guesthouse is great. Exceeded expectations. Close enough to Duval, but far enough away from all the noise and nonsense.

This Inn was a great choice for our Honeymoon. A block or so from Duval we were close to everything, plenty of options for eating and drinking and a short and sometimes drunken walk home! The room fit our needs--- a little pricey for the size I guess (but I have nothing in the Keys to compare it to.) The standard queen room is just big enough for two people with very little privacy (the bathroom door was louvered!) The breakfast was muffins and coffee, I would have liked more for the price. The deck/pool area was very pretty but the pool was more of a modified hot tub fun for little kids I guess but not for older ones. Overall it was a great choice for 20-30 something honeymooners who want to take advantage of the night life.

My boyfriend wanted to give me a really special Christmas gift and take me to the Merlin Guesthouse for New Years. He was terribly disappointed with the room considering the price he paid for our room. The dumpster was directly outside our room and it was filled to capacity (in the hot, humid weather it was really foul). The tile floor in the bathroom was cracked and the shower was too small for him (he's 6'6"!). The worst part was what was left on the chairs (it appeared to be fecal matter), but to the credit of the management it was cleaned immediately after we complained about it. On the flip side, I thought the decor was charming. The A/C worked well and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the location was great. I would probably not stay there again.
