It’s a nice hotel if you want to be in a more quiet area of Key West without being too far away from the centre. However if you want to walk to the Mallard Square area for example to watch the sunset it takes at least half an hour.

The rooms were typical motel rooms; ok in size and amenities and clean. The pool area was nice but can get soon overcrowded. Breakfast is nothing special and the room for breakfast is way too small.

Although I said I would never stay at a Best Western again after my experience in Colorado Springs, this hotel was the best price in the general area of Key West that I wanted. So, I took a chance. And ... was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice hotel at a decent price for Key West (but that is not saying much ... Key West is more expensive than Maui!). It is about 14-15 blocks from the main tourist area in Key West (in other words, Mallory Square and dock area). However, the Lighthouse museum, Butterfly Conservatory, and Southernmost Point marker are all close.

For getting around in Key West, they really need to provide something better than what they have. Although there is bus service, none of the hotel, etc. people recommend it. The BW does NOT have shuttle service to the airport, so that means taxi which is EXPENSIVE! (One person was $14.15 coming from the airport and $12.35 going back ... I have no idea why the meter was different, but I do not trust taxis anyway unless it is a flat rate. Flat rate airport fee is only for two or more people.)

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I booked this hotel for a 4-night stay in Key West, but it surely turned out to be a good experience.

My second-floor room was very large and appeared to have been renovated fairly recently. Not that I spent much time on TV and computer while I was there, but there were many cable channels to choose from and the wireless Internet worked well.

The hotel is in a perfect location, just out of earshot of the noisy bars and clubs, but within easy walking distance of any "old town" attraction.

Front desk personnel were efficient and friendly, even a bit conversational. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping my room clean and supplying plenty of clean towels.

Parking in the hotel lot was free and convenient. Breakfast was typical continental breakfast fare, with one exception: the plain bagels were the best I've ever eaten outside New York City.

I don't know if or when I'll visit Key West again; but if I do, Best Western Hibiscus will be my first choice.

Fresh and clean, no musty smells, nice pool, room decor needs a little updating. Small refrigerator and microwave, good TV. No fan in the bathroom, only a window for ventilation, causes problems at times. Air conditioner was weak but adequate. Breakfast was ordinary, with cereals, fruits, toast and bagels, warm hard boiled eggs, juice, milk, coffee. The front desk was very helpful and friendly, very willing to suggest restaurants, attractions and directions. Computer was provided for internet access, and although we did not use it, wi fi was available.

Great location a few blocks from the southernmost point and one block off Duval at the quiet end of the island. It was an easy walk to the busy end of the island, a maximum of 13 blocks. Taxis can get you to the busy side for about $8 if you don't want to walk.

Plenty of good restaurants within four or five blocks.

We would stay here again, it was a good value.
