We stayed in the Dewey House for three nights and had an incredible stay. It was quiet, romantic, well-located near the action but enough off the beaten path. The private beach was amazing (tops optional according to a sign which I thought was a joke until I saw someone taking it seriously).
The room was clean and well-appointed. The bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi tub. It was immaculate. (We had the room with a private enclosed deck.)
They served the BEST BREAKFAST I've ever had at a B and B-- fresh fruit, French pastries, espresso. It was self-serve, but well presented.
The best part of our stay was the little tiki bar attached to the hotel. Best. Pina Coladas. Ever. I had one each afternoon while wave watching.
Since this is part of the Southernmost Hotel group, the amenities of all three hotels are available. I enjoyed the pool at the hotel next door since Dewey House is just that---a house. There was another hotel across the street with gorgeous pool inside a garden-like area with a tiki bar that I never got a chance to use.
Be prepared to walk---comfy shoes are a must. The main attractions seem to be on Duval Street. It is about one mile from the Dewey House to the far end of Duval where the sunset celebration and street performers are. Or you can rent a scooter onsite, which we did.
We rode all over Key West, and found that the beach at Fort Jackson far surpassed any other beach in the area.
One note---Key West is not kid-friendly and I don't believe they are allowed at the Dewey House. I would NOT ever take my kids to Key West. It's a bit of a decadent environment where "anything goes."
