My partner and I returned to the Equator after a 5 year absence. Still a great place to stay, although the previour owners were on the property a lot and great fun. Missed the hot tub, but the pool is quite warm with some good jets in the corner. Had a great room, private balcony, second floor, and vaulted ceilings. Our shower was beautiful, glass blocks and spotless. Good value, although most everything on the Island is a bit pricey.

Breakfast was ok, nothing special, self-serve, which suited us fine. Lots of towels on the deck and in the room. No real complaints. Mostly an older crowd, couples, quiet, which also suited us well. Probably better for younger party guys to head to one of the larger resorts.

Staff was very professional, but not overly friendly. Ok, but not the visiting type. Ok if with someone, might be a bit lonely if by yourself. Like I said before, the Equator is probably more for couples.

Will definetly stay there next year.

We're just back from a long weekend in Key West, and once again a great experience at the Equator. Richard is making smart investments in the property (bathroom renovations, new decking, poolside bar) and the same great staff continues to be there (Gary, Kerry, Troy and Rocco). We'll be back for Fantasy Fest because we know we can count on the Equator! Thanks guys!

I just returned from my stay at the Equator Resort, an all-male gay resort in Key West, FL. I had a great time! The service was friendly, and my room was kept spotless by the cute Russian housekeeping boys. :-)

As this is a guest house, each room is unique. My room had its own private balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast is served every morning downstairs near the pool area. The ample selection of bagels, cereals, juices, coffee, tea, pancakes, eggs, yogurt, fruit and toast was enough to please anyone's palate.

The Equator is located just a couple of blocks from the gayborhood (near Duval street, where there are 4 gay bars), and just two blocks from the marina area. Everything is within walking distance. They also have bikes you can rent for a modest charge of $10/day.

I particularly enjoyed the laid back , "family-like" atmosphere at the Equator. You become close to the guys that are staying there with you. I found the accommodations to be comfortable, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone thinking of staying in Key West.

The Equator Resort is a gay men's hotel resort property, located in a great neighborhood just a few blocks from Duval Street in Key West. This property is on it's third owner, mainly an owner that is fairly hands-off, and it shows!!
The main complaint is the lack of service. Breakfast is included with your stay, but it is definately self-serve. The same egg dish is also served every morning, with no variety or alteration. The staff is generally aloof, with no one offering to remove/clear any dishes you may have after serving yourself to breakfast. Again, let me reinterate, this resort is all about self-service!!
The rooms are not the cleanest, with lube bottle ring stains on nightstands, and some mold growing in between bathroom tiles.
The price paid was below $130/per night, so the value is there, if you're willing to overlook the above mentioned areas.
Overall, this resort is a marginal, self-service experience!
