My wife and I spent three nights at Marrero’s Guest Mansion, Key West, in early October 2007. Our host, John, was very friendly and had everything ready for us upon our arrival. Our room, #14 by the pool, was immaculate, and roomy. We utilized the small fridge that was in the room. The bathroom had a large shower. A ceiling fan was over the bed, and supplemented the AC quite well. We had no trouble sleeping at night. The room was cleaned each day. Alisha did a great job. The mansion was not at full occupancy, so we were able to see several of the other rooms. All were immaculate, and inviting. We would stay in any of them. A large deluxe continental breakfast was served each morning from 8 to 10:30. Plenty of fresh fruit, all kinds of breads and sweet rolls, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. John had a nice happy hour from 5:30 to 7:00 each evening, serving cocktails, wine, and beer. It is a nice time to see and meet the other guests. We followed several of John’s recommendations for food in Key West, and were not disappointed. The clothing optional pool was open 24 hours a day, a nice place to cool off when you return from Duval St. at 2am. There was an honor bar out by the pool, stocked with soft drinks, beer and water. Just write you name and amount on the clipboard, and settle with him on the last day. The ice machine was located in the pool area too. Parking is not easy to come by in Key West, but parking right behind the mansion in a large lot was $10 per day. It was worth it! We never moved our van once we parked it until we were ready to leave. The mansion is only ½ block from Duval St. Easy walking distance for most attractions, bars and restaurants. As I type this review, we are already planning a return trip in the spring. Some of the pictures from our trip are located here:

We stayed at Marrero's Guest Mansion October 11 - 13, 2007 for our anniversary. We thought the mansion itself was lovely. The location is great, 1/2 block off of Duval and convenient to everything. Our room was extremely small, but that's ok, as we were not in it much. Very clean. Nice selection of cereal, pastries, etc. for breakfast. Check in was cut and dry, immediate payment for our 2nd night right then and there before we were even taken to our room, and we were instructed that if we failed to return the paper orange parking pass when leaving our credit card would be charged $100. Just never got that welcoming feeling. I guess she was the housekeeper- Alisa ??? I found her to be pretty rude. My husband went down for a cup of coffee and to take a walk while I got ready, it was about 7:45. When he asked her if he could get a cup of coffee, since he was looking at a full, ready-made pot, he was told "No, not until 8:00." So he walked around the corner and bought a cup at Starbucks. I thought this was extremely rude. I know there are a lot of people who wake up early and want coffee before 8AM. It's not like he was asking for it at 5AM, It was 7:45! What's 15 minutes???? The room we stayed in had a window at the top of the door so the light from the hallway chandelier was shining right through it. So the second nite after we came in I turned the light down some, went to bed and looked up a few minutes later and someone had turned it back up to bright. They should really place a curtain there for the guest that pay to stay in that room.
We never used the pool or the happy hour, too much fun out exploring Key West, probably would have if we had been there longer.
Saw a lot of really pretty places while we were there that we will try. We had a great trip, just needed a little more hospitality in a guest inn. Would probably not stay there again.

We were at Marrero's in mid September and we loved it. The mansion is old and charming....high ceilings....large rooms and a great clothing optional pool which we enjoyed everyday.
The resort is 1/2 block from Duval Street so the action is not far away. There is a light breakfast every morning and a happy hour every afternoon. We have already booked a week there in June, 2008.

Our only disappointment was we didn't see the ghost! Everything else about our stay (our first) was exceptional. We'll definitely go back next year. John and Alisa are wonderful. The rooms are well appointed with a mini-frig, air co and balconies on some. No hair dryers or irons in the rooms but they are available on request. The clothing optional pool was comfortable, clean and private. The breakfast buffet and happy hour were great. A block from Duval Street, couldn't be a better location! Just loved it!

“A Great House in a Great Town”

Marrero's Guest Mansion

This was our first stay at Marrero's, but it won't be our last. The people-- both staff and other guests-- were very friendly. The daily complimentary Happy Hour was relaxing and fun. The clothing-optional pool provided a great deal of privacy. Finally, the house itself is absolutely beautiful. We're already planning our next trip.
