Terrrible, terrible hotel. We stayed in a room that right across from the door was two very large bird cages with 20 plus cockatiels birds. At sun rise all the birds began to sing and sang continously till the sun went down. So there was no way for us to sleep past 7 AM in the morning. The room was very small and the bathroom was extremely small with no exhaust fan or window. After about two minutes in the shower the temperture and humidity shot up to unbarable levels. Considering we paid 120 bucks a night I was expecting a little more then what we got and the birds were unacceptable.

What was insulting is when we questioned the front desk staff about the birds and why would anyone put 20 birds right outside of a guest room all we got was a dumb look like we were the problem not the birds. The hotel was full so we couldn't switch rooms and we were not offered any discount for the awful stay we endured. I have done extensive traveling and stayed in anything from five star to B&Bs and this was the first time I've ever had 20 plus birds within five feet of my hotel room. So I don't think me and my girlfriend were being overly sensistive.

I was part of a wedding party and the reports from the other people staying in the hotel were also terrible but for different reasons. But I won't go into detail because I do not want to pass along second hand information.

We also stayed at the Author's house hotel across the street from the Palms and it was a superb hotel. I highly recommend it over the Palms and the pricing is roughly the same so please, please don't make the mistake of staying at the Palms and having a terrible Key West vacation.

My Fiance stayed here in mid March and stayed for 2 nights in room 3 (which is located on the main floor under the stairs, part of the room faces the pool).

This is the place to stay when you want a clean bed to sleep and a simple Continental breakfast. If you're looking for luxury or some place to hang out in your room all day then this won't be the place for you.

The rooms are affordable, basic and clean. Granted because this site is a historic location, it is NOT a modern building. You will hear people outside your door, walking noises above you and people by the pool. You will also hear people talking in their rooms. We did however find that there weren't noisy people staying at this location when we were there because it's a good 10/15 minute walk from Duval St. We rented bicycles and found that to be much more tolerable. It's very affordable at the hotel. Approx. 24/day for 2 bicycles.

Bathroom did not have a hair dryer so bring your own however there were towels provided on a daily basis that were clean! There was no bathtub in our room just a stand up stall.

Breakfast was very simple with toast, coffee, tea, fruit and boiled eggs. If you'd like something more substantial there are many breakfast joints around town where you can pay for a larger meal.

We are having our wedding in Key West this year and our wedding guests and party will be staying at this establishment. We all just need a bed to sleep and a place to shower as we all will be taking in the sights and sounds of Key West rather than the hotel room.

We booked a room for 3 persons for 2 days and we were very surprised with the accamodation that they offered us.
The room was very clean, breakfast was great although we missed one. Pool area was great and everything was there egg towels
The plce is a bit old fashoined key west style but it's also well maintained.

This is really nice place to stay , a bit away from noise of duval street but still close to everything.
Hire some bikes.

This hotel is one of the most dishonest and disreputable I have ever dealt with. Made reservations for 4 people a month in advance, confirmed a week before our vacation, and drove 20 hours only to be told that the room was 2 person max (even though on the internet it said the suite slept 4 people) and that we would be "kicked out" if there were more than 2 people in the room. After turning us away, they ran our credit card and charged us for the full week, even though we NEVER STAYED THERE. After talking to the very rude managers several times, and hearing several different stories from them, they refused to refund our money, and we had to file a complaint with the credit card company. Heard other customers complain to the front desk that their stay was "the worst 2 nights of their life." Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.
