Stayed here for 2 days - i was very happy that i could leave after the 2 nights. I am not sure why this place is called "resort". okay it is on the sea (not a real beach there) and it has pools, but nothing looked like a resort. and if you go there, please do not book a standard room. you will sleep right next to the loud highway (so that's why again i would not say this is a resort). the rooms are horrible. very old and i was afraid of walking barefeet through the room. you will stick like glue at the carpet. the smell of the room was disgusting. also the pillows and covers smelled. i was glad i had some disinfection spray with me. the bathroom is very small. so i would not recommend to stay there!

We had a wonderful time at the Chesapeake Resort. We spent a long weekend 4 nights and 3 days at this charming resort. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There are endless spots to relax and take in the beautiful scenary. The rooms are clean and charming. It is in a great location and I can't wait to visit again.
My sister-in-law and I had the pleasure of having a 'girls only' vacation here.
Centrally located, the Chesapeake is the 2nd most relaxing & naturally charming place I've been to (1st being a large grand 5*chain resort in Kauai). Majestic swaying palm trees everywhere U turn. Magnificent tropical foliage gardens will stimulate your senses. Take the time needed to gaze at the numerous plantings & trees. U'll also get glimpses of tiny lizards meandering around. The various species of birds that 'play' in the waterfalls area are a delight to watch & listen to. Look for the family of Iguanias that live in the palms that graciously sweep above the waterfall and pool area.
The hotel facilities are above average adequate. The construction is 'CBS',very important in tropical/hurricane regions(concrete/brick/stucco). I had an oceanfront deluxe located in the Beach House. Clean rooms & bedding. Sliders to intimate balcony with sturdy comfy chairs, fridge, full size coffee maker & TV with full std cable(ie. HGTV,Lifetime,Spike, ESPN,etc.)
Hotel personnel are wonderful. Front desk/office people are extremely knowledgeable of the area & will take the time necessary to give you tips. Housekeeping does a fantastic job (Wilma is the best). Make sure to "take care of" your housekeeper, they absolutely deserve it. The groundskeepers do a great job. U'll see them from sun up to sun down roaming the property on golf carts picking up every little piece of mother natures debris. Please give them a smile and a "Hello" when you see them.
Take advantage of all the amenities that the daily resort fee covers to experience it's full value. It includes daily bottled water, a lovely breakfast set up that includes pastries, muffins, cereal, bagels, yogurt, fruit, juices & coffee. And the best is the use of their kayaks, paddelboats & bicycles.
Loved it, period. Enough of me...
Travel Tip: Research the Keys before you go to clearly understand the area. Slow down and enjoy the wonders, the riches and tranquility of this special place.

We stayed 1 night on our way to Key West in May 2007. The resort itself is a lot smaller than it appears on the website but it is a nice place. If a little strange!!! The room we had was a basic double room. It was adequate. It had everything we needed for one night. I dont think I'd recommend it for more than one night. I think you would rapidly run out of things to do! The resort is very easy to find, right on the main road, and right next to the water. It has 2 swimming pools which were very nice. You can rent boats and bikes and all sorts by the water. The resort doesnt have a restaurant however right next door there is a marina which has a bar which you sit out at upstairs are look over the water and have the cheapest drinks we've had in America! $5 for 2 large glasses of wine! There is the Whale Inn Seafood restaurant which I would highly recommend. Its all you can eat seafood buffet. Normally we stay well clear of buffet but this was excellent. Unbelievable fresh, unbelievable choice and unbelievable price!!! I recommend it!
All in all we had a great stay in Islamorada. Definately a good stopping point for the night on the way to somewhere else.
