We scanned the web and trip advisor to find a resort/hotel in Islamorada where our 30 guests could stay for our wedding. We saw a lot of different comments on The Islander -- quite frankly I was a little worried that we booked with them. However, it was very affordable for everyone in our party, had a pool and looked nice and clean.

Well, once we got there it was ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS. The rooms were great, nice and clean and the staff was there once a day picking things up. All the guests really liked the screened in porch and the little kitchens. The Tiki Bar was a blast and they really had pretty good food. The pool was clean and fun--I'm not sure what other reviewer are talking about when they say the "locals" were there trashing the place up. I just saw nice families having a good time in the sun. It was perfect for both the two young children in our wedding and all the adults. Maybe these reviewers were looking for a VERY quiet getaway--maybe they need to check out a boutique hotel instead because this group had no complaints.

I say if you are the kind of person that enjoys a good time, a great view of the beach and if you are a looking for a place that has it all then you will be very happy with The Islander.

I just returned from a wedding there and the food was fabulous. I slept like a baby on the beds and I have a bad back. The ladies there are so warm and wonderful. Thanks to Connie and all the girls for getting my husbands wallet back. I had the best time.
It was a beautiful place to stay and everything was landscaping manicured . The paint was fresh and cheery.
If you can get the 410 building you are right on the beach.
Lovely people and place and just as good, maybe better than the Cheeca Lodge.

First time to The Keys, stayed at three resorts...this was outstanding! Location, location! Everything you want is here, no need to leave, with the trading post-store across from the hotel.
Cleanliness, pools-hot-tub, beach area all perfect. The tiki bar
completes the property, providing excellent atmosphere. A family
oriented stay...we'll be back!

First, food was incredible. Beautifully presented, perfectly prepared. We found staff to be very accommodating and friendly. Able to pack light due to washers and dryers - did 3 BIG loads of laundry for $6.00 wash & dry! Screened-in porch with tables & chairs leads to room - Huge patio windows that open the full width of the room - almost like having an outdoor bedroom without the bugs. Enjoyed a botle of wine in the porch end of day. Clean, daily maid service exceptional, nice crowd of guests - property quiet after 10 and we were right at the pool area. Music by pool not too loud during the day and decent music - no rap :) Rustle of palm trees was like a lullaby. Pool area extremely clean, beach beautiful. Snorkeling ok - shallow area but starting to see some life - some green grass, sponges, lots of fish, tiny corals starting to grow. Saw a few barracuda - perfectly harmless. Never made it to sunset at their pier - we were so relaxed, we fell asleep. Great family resort - kids must have been happy because we didn't hear any screaming/crying - just lots of laughter.
