I picked the Islander because I had seen an article on CNN that stated the Islander was a "hidden jewel" and it proved to be so. My family loved the Islander. The staff was very accommodating. The continental breakfast was good. We stayed in Room 511 and it was great. It was right on the ocean front. The room had a cathedral ceiling in the sleeping area, mini kitchenette, jacuzzi, a huge shower, and a screened in porch that had a table and chairs. The hotel was completely booked, yet you wouldn't know it since the beach was not crowded. There are palm trees sporadically placed with lounge chairs and tables on the beach. The tiki restaurant has great food and a nice atmosphere. They also have watersport rentals and the people that run it are very nice and accommodating. The Islander is truly a wonderful and relaxing place to stay for a vacation.

We stayed at the Islander Resort from July 8-14, 2007 for our honeymoon! The room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a kitchenette, huge bathroom with seperate tub and shower, king sized bed, and a desk. We spent most of our time by the salt water pool laying out or in the pool. The tiki bar had excellent food and great servers. The complimentary breakfast was always yummy! We will definiately stay at the Islander Resort again!

This was the best place to stay in the Keys. We selected it after having read all of the reviews on TripAdvisor....they weren't wrong!

Room were clean and spacious. It was great having the kitchenette as it meant we didn't need to eat out every night. They also have outdoor hibachi grills that you can use if you get charcoal. The lanai's were the perfect spot to sit and enjoy dinner or drinks.

Fishing pier was a life-saver for our 12 year old son...I can't count the number of trips he made down to the pier to fish. He caught needlefish, yellow-tailed snappers, saw a nurse shark and more.

The pools were clean and the restaurant had good food!

You can walk to the local market (Trading Post) and really didn't need to leave the resort if you didn't want to.

I'm glad we chose this place.

We scanned the web and trip advisor to find a resort/hotel in Islamorada where our 30 guests could stay for our wedding. We saw a lot of different comments on The Islander -- quite frankly I was a little worried that we booked with them. However, it was very affordable for everyone in our party, had a pool and looked nice and clean.

Well, once we got there it was ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS. The rooms were great, nice and clean and the staff was there once a day picking things up. All the guests really liked the screened in porch and the little kitchens. The Tiki Bar was a blast and they really had pretty good food. The pool was clean and fun--I'm not sure what other reviewer are talking about when they say the "locals" were there trashing the place up. I just saw nice families having a good time in the sun. It was perfect for both the two young children in our wedding and all the adults. Maybe these reviewers were looking for a VERY quiet getaway--maybe they need to check out a boutique hotel instead because this group had no complaints.

I say if you are the kind of person that enjoys a good time, a great view of the beach and if you are a looking for a place that has it all then you will be very happy with The Islander.
