We really enjoyed the laid back and mellow atmosphere at the La Jolla. The price was right. We stayed in room "T" aka "The Honeymoon Suite", it was a room with a bed and pretty table. It had a great view of the bay and the La Jolla grounds. The facility is aged (from the 1950's.) A heck of a lot cooler than a standard motel room and priced right (especially in the off season.)

The bayside yard features a shuffle board court but not instructions on the rules, kayaks for guests to use, a hammock, chairs and a tiki table. The grill to cook your fish needs some work. This is a charming place I would recommend. Traffic noise is minimal in the yard.

It is not fancy but it is neat and we'll be staying again. Next time we'll spring for a bigger room with kitchenette so we can spread out. I hope La Jolla stays just as it is!

I also recommend Captain Kenny Spaulding. He's been our fishing guide for years and is accommodating and nice and gets you fish.

--Cheers,

Stayed Four nights, on brothers recomendation. Very disappointed. Pool is small and old, right by the road (A!A), if you love the sound of traffic you will love the pool. The rooms are damp and need to be totally gutted. Everything did work but the A/C smelled musty, the fridge was rusting, coated with touchup paint. There is no ICE Maker. Very overpriced. The maids fog the room with Lyscol after cleaning, No exageration, while drying off with a towel it accually split in several places, you probibly have rags nicer than the linens here. The kitchen is well stocked with great flea maket fines. Stay away! Oh and did I mention that there is no ICE Machine! Try the Islander down the road, total remodel.

We stayed @ La Jolla for 4 days & loved it. This a little gem of a tropical oasis. Very private
and quiet. The colors, the pool, a nice big hammock and all looking out at glorious sunsets made this and especially memorable hotel.

We have stayed at this resort in 2004 and we are again in two days. We truly loved it, quiet, cute and loved the colors!! To me, it is worth the money. You are there to visit the Keys not sit in a hotel/resort room. We stayed in Grassy Key on the ocean side for $250.00 a night and the owner was rude, not friendly and had loud screaming birds outside. Lajolla referred us to several fishing charters which we indulged in. This is well worth the stay. Beautiful scenary and we will definitely be going there again. Cannot wait to go in two days!!!!!!!
