Our trip started out with problems and went downhill all week. First they didn't have our room reserved, so we had to stay in one of the suites, which we had to pay extra for. Second, our door lock was broken and it took forever for someone to come and fix it. Third, while they were fixing it we left to enjoy the Keys, and when we came back we discovered that my iPod had been stolen. Fourth, I tried to get some extra towels by calling the front desk and no one picked up. I called three times and finally had to walk all the way to the office and then they didn't have any, so they had to send someone with them, which took another half an hour.
I was so dissatisfied with this hotel and upset at having my property stolen that I would never, ever stay there again. The lack of compentent, honest staff is the real downfall to this awful establishment. The market for inexpensive, clean hotels in Islamorada is wide open, the Days Inn could make a killing if they only took the time to fire everyone who works there now and hire some compentent, caring staff.
