Since I was a child, I have always wanted to fly in the Legendary Mustang. Having visited Stallion 51 before and flown their T6, I wanted to graduate to the Mustang. On the 14th November, I fulfilled my lifelong dream, flying Crazy Horse. Also, thanks to John 'Homer' Black for the expert instruction.
From the moment of picking up the phone to make arrangements for my flight, it can be seen that this is a professional outfit. Julia answered the phone and took my details, recognizing I had already flown the T6 with them. I went along with a friend who had never flown before. I arranged for him to fly the T6 so we could do a little formation flying as well.
Upon arriving, we were welcomed and met our Instructor Pilots for the sortie. John 'Homer' Black what my instructor and Pat was to fly with Steve Larmore. We all discussed what we wanted to get out of our flights, then I went with John and Pat went with Steve into separate briefing rooms to do a breakdown of what we were going to do and which parts we would fly. We also discussed the aerobatic routines we wanted to achieve as well as safety.
We then went to our aircraft and did a walk round inspection, checking everything was in order. Once the instructors were happy we then mounted up!
Again, John went through the safety elements we had discussed in the briefing room. and it was time to start our flight.
The only way I can describe the flight is 'FANTASTIC' I still have the smile stuck to my face today.
After our flight, we all went into one briefing room and discussed the flight, watched our video recording and went through any questions.
The whole process took about 3 1/2 hours but it was the best 3 1/2 hours of my life.
If you have ever wanted to fly a genuine WWII aircraft, Stallion 51 is the place to let your dreams become a reality. They are a truly professional outfit, with the aim of giving normal people the opportunity to fly a legend.
Thank you all for a great time.
