We went during spring break so the rates at hotels closer to Miami beach were scarey expensive. Since we had a car it wasn't so bad getting back and forth to/from the beach.
When we tried to check in at the hotel there was no one working the Priorty Club/Ambassador desk. I noticed a huge group starting to check in, so I went to the concierge desk and asked if someone could help us. He was very polite and checked us in.
The room was nice (very Intercontinental), the bed was fab!
When you laid on the bed you never want to leave.
I must agree with the previous writer that the hotel was a little on the cool side. I had to keep the temperature pretty high to keep off the polar like temperatures.
Compared to other Intercontinentals we've been too, the breakfast buffett needs some help.
Beyond the lobby and outside is a nice seating area near the pool (heated).
We did have some billing issues upon check out but after calling for a manager the problem was resolved.
If you don't mind being away from the action and have a car, the hotel works. Free airport shuttle operating on the hour.

Given our situation, being stranded in Miami for one day, we were able to book a room through Hotwire for $150 per night. I must say the hotel was nice. If it wasnt for the cold front in Florida, we might have enjoyed the pool. The cab ride from the airport cost about $24. Across the street from the hotel there are gas stations with convenience store, Dunkin Donuts, Wendy's and McDonalds. There is a free airport shuttle that runs every hour. I have no complaints for a one night stay due to a flight cancellation. If I ever return to Miami would I stay here again? No only because it's too far away from South Beach and nightlife. Best way would be to rent a car. There is a parking lot on the hotel premises.

The service/room/food/concierge were all outstanding at this hotel, I really was impressed by it all. I was upgraded for free to a room on the 28th floor with large panoramic views over the bay and a very large bed with pillow menu and a huge bathroom with separate wet room. The concierge was so helpful in organising a trip to the Everglades and organised dinner for us at The Blue Door at the Delano hotel - a real must - especially with the exchange rate at present, and at Touch - another fabulous boutique style restaurant on South Beach. All in all a brilliant stay.

We booked this hotel through Priceline after finding out that a decent hotel in the Miami area is very expensive. We were only staying for an evening on our way from Minnesota to Jamaica. We got a great rate ($150 for one night) and had a fabulous stay!

The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. Included in our room rate was a breakfast buffet (bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, toast, muffins, fresh tropical fruit, etc), tea time (tea, coffee and snacks) from 2-4, and also a cocktail hour where we received 2 free drinks and appetizers. All of these activities took place down the hall from our room on the 3rd floor. There is also a complimentary shuttle to/from Miami International Airport. You get a lot of bang for your buck!

We utilized the concierge and he was EXTREMELY helpful. We told him that we wanted to eat at a Brazillian steak house in the area. Within 5 minutes he had made us reservations and called us a cab. When we arrived the woman at the front desk was also very helpful in offering dining options!

The only negative thing I have to say is that we called the front desk to see if we could get a room at the same rate for our one night stay after our Jamaica trip, and they were not able to accommodate us. I was a little surprised considering it would have been on a Tuesday night, so I can't imagine they would be full. I was told I would need to go through the Priceline process again.
