We stayed here December 8, 2006, as we had a cruise leaving Miami the next day. Since we had booked our cruise at the last minute, and did not know that on this particular weekend there was a Miami Dolphins game in town, there were no other hotels available. Thre was obviously a reason this hotel still had rooms.

The good:
Reception is extremely friendly and helpful. Check in and check out are both very fast and efficient.

There is free pick-up service from Miami Airport to the hotel, but you must call the hotel once you arrive at the airport for the hotel van to pick you up.

The bad:
The room, while clean, smelled. It had either a musty smell or a urine smell, which sort of went away after we turned on the air conditioning. The windows do not open in the room so it could just have been the smell of many people over time in a very closed space.

The hotel is basically located in the middle of nowhere. There is no pool, no hottub, and if you don't have a car, there is nothing within walking distance, you will need a cab. There is no restaurant in the hotel either.

When you check in you are given a 20% off coupon for the IHOP next-door (the only restaurant nearby). We arrived around dinner time, and the IHOP was the only place to eat. We should have stuck with the pancakes!!!

There is a breakfast buffet in the morning that is located in a room off the entrance. There is a steam table with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, pancakes and danishes. There was coffee, tea, juices and fruit. The breakfast buffet was just ok.

The real downside was that front desk had recommended a specific car service to take us to the Port of Miami, and we did call and arrange for next day pick up on their recommendation. The next morning, after waiting outside for over an hour, not a hardship since the weather was beautiful, we went back in and had the front desk call to find out where the driver was. He then advised them he was not going to come today at all. The hotel receptionist was very apologetic and immediately arranged for a taxi to come and pick us up.

Basically, I would recommend that you stay in this hotel only if there is nothing else available. The hotel itself is decent, but is seriously lacking in amenities, especially for a hotel located in Florida, where you would at least hope to spend a long evening soaking in a hot tub or in a pool. Because of the location, if you fly into Miami and don't have a car, you need to get a cab to go anywhere.

Even though the reception desk people are very nice, I would think twice about trusting their recommendations as far as eating in the restaurant next door, or using their car service to the cruise port.

“Basic hotel, very close to airport”

Holiday Inn Express Miami Airport Central-Miami Springs

We stayed at this hotel after landing at Miami and picking up our rental car. The hotel is basic but very conveniently placed close to the airport which is very useful when you arrive late.

The reception staff were quite cheery and helpful unlike some other reports.

There was no proper breakfast area, just a makeshift one with cereals and juice so we went next door to the IHOP where we picked up a cooked breakfast.

“Worst bed ever”

Holiday Inn Express Miami Airport Central-Miami Springs

We were a party of 6 adults in 3 separate rooms, staying one night pre-cruise. We waited too late to book to get any of the hotels we wanted so we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express by the airport. Warning: DO NOT stay here. The beds were so bad, the springs actually poked through. No other rooms available, so switching was not an option. None of our 6 slept that night. Also, they were in the middle of renovating, something they neglected to mention when we made our reservations, so there was fresh paint everywhere, tile pulled up from the hallways, drop cloths and materials all over the hotel, and construction workers who started work at the butt crack of dawn. Bad night, bad experience.

On the plus side, staff were friendly, there was a nice breakfast buffet and free airport shuttle service. Also, the front desk was very accomodating in booking us reasonable transporation from the hotel to the cruise terminal. Perhaps after they finish renovations, and if they get all new mattresses, this could be an option for a one-night stay convenient to the airport. But certainly not until that happens.

We stayed here the last night of our honeymoon on May 23 rd 2004 cause of a plane delay. I chose it cause it was close to the airport and it looked like it had a lot of restauraunts nearby according to the website. Well that is alie! the only thing that is close is the Ihop which is next door and McDonalds right down the street. They said on the website that hooters and tony romas and tons of other restauraunts were nearby. Nearby to me is walking distance. these places were 15 via taxi! That to me is very misleading.

The shuttle was impossible to find and we actually got onto the holiday inn one instead of express. they were so nice there and their shuttle driver offered to take us to the express. i would stay there next time!

The Whole hotel really stunk, I mean smelled, literally like chlorine and acid, but there was no pool. Hmmm. We had to share a pook with the comfort inn that was 5 blocks down. No thank you.

“Not much hospitality here!”

We stayed here for one night during a driving holiday in Florida and this was the only hotel out of the many we stayed at that didn't show much hospitality to guests. The reception staff couldn't have cared less, and while we were having breakfast some staff were watching the T.V in reception and were completely oblivious to anything! After travelling all the way from Australia we had to wait at the airport for over an hour for the courtesy bus because the driver ignored our waving as he went past. The room was okay and close to IHOP, so even though it was very late when we arrived we could still get a meal(with friendly service!) Obviously PR skills are needed here, as we are very friendly people and we appreciate the usual American hospitality. We found it odd that Christmas greetings on the hotel lobby door were only in Spanish!
